Enter the boring rants...
November 30th, 2007 04:01 amI don't know quite how to react to this whole flagging thing. I mean okay, being able to lock out under 18 people from your own smutty fic? Good thing. But being able to flag someone else's journal... as many people have pointed out, it's too easily abused. I can totally see people going, "zomg, two boys kissing? adkslajjdslak that's obscene, flag it!" But hey, what do I know. XD I suppose with this I could probably take off the friends only thing on the writing journal and just lock up the smut, but... somehow I'm still not comfortable with that. Plus it would take entirely too much work. XD So I can't really see myself using the locks... I'll just keep everything friends only. Safer that way. XD Basically, my take on it is this: Everything in my writing journal (and this journal, for that matter) is labelled when there is adult content. Readers have warning and it's their responsibility to not read it if they're too young. I'm not anyone's mother- it's not my job to make sure the kiddies aren't reading smut. It's called parenting, people. Pay attention to what your kid is doing, kay? It's not my problem if they ignore the warnings and read my NC-17 stuff anyway. Same idea as any other warning, really. XD If I warn about something, don't complain that said thing is in the entry/fic. Bottom line here is that I'm not a babysitter and I don't intend to be one. If you can read the fic then you can read the damn warnings too.
Ahh. Awesome. Found a downloadable word processor with a word count option that's free. Woot!
I also just put in an order for a refurbished computer. It's a horizontal PC, which quite frankly is... ugh... but it has the basics (including windows XP, yay!) and is $200. About $220 after shipping. Which is something that I can afford. Especially since I'm just looking for something that I can use until I find out what's going on with Isumi, so... yeah. I can deal with the fact that it doesn't have as much memory as I'd like, and that kind of stuff... because really? Who cares for that price? As long as it works, I'll be happy. I think I even have a name for it already- Oishi. XD Not really any frills, but reliable and gets the job done. And yay, I just got the confirmation e-mail. <3 Expected arrival date is Tuesday, apparently. Awesomeness.
I did everything I meant to today, aside from the writing goal. I wrote SOME... just not 500 words. Probably about 100, actually. Damn. But that means that I did actually finish the Hikaru No Go manga- finally. XD And I can definitely see why people were frustrated with the ending. Guh. *needs more*
Alright. Really, I promise to shut up now. XD
