verloren1983: (Smile)
So I've generally been keeping up with anime. Reactions to the new stuff so far:

Rambling be here. Minor spoilers for Free! if you're not up to date, I guess? )

verloren1983: (Sigh)
Reminder that the Reading Rainbow kickstarter ends in a few days. This deserves ALL THE MONIES, so I just figured I'd throw it out there one more time. ^_~

★ What I'm intending on at least trying for midsummer release anime:
-Free! Eternal Summer (obviously)
-Majimoji Rurumo
-Love Stage!! (This one's mostly because one of the MC's has Nagisa's VA, not gonna lie)
-Kuroshitsuji: Book of Circus (I would ignore this, but it looks like they're retconning season 2 and using manga material, so I'll give them another chance)
-Persona 4 Golden (maybe, I'll probably wait and see what happens with this one, I don't see much point in watching it unless it's significantly different from the original anime)
-And obviously still watching Baby Steps (even though Takasaki's voice annoys the living hell out of me for some reason) and Haikyuu!! (which I'm forever misspelling XD)

★ I may have restarted Once Upon a Time (sort of, I was only a couple of episodes into it to begin with). I just started episode 10 of the first season. Time will tell if this was a good idea or not. ^_^;;;

★ My 3DS has decided that it doesn't want to work- it starts to turn on, but then before any screens actually come up, it makes a popping noise and turns off. It has also stopped lighting up when I plug it in. Taking out the battery for a while and putting it back in was absolutely no help. Soooo I have to send it off to Nintendo and hopefully they can fix it. It's going to take a month to get it back probably, since they're apparently backed up, but the guy on the phone was super nice and helpful, so that's a plus. I just hope it's nothing I did. It -was- in my backpack the other day when it was pouring outside? <_< But then, my laptop was also in my bag and my laptop is perfect, so.... I don't know. But it's apparently a common enough problem that if you go to the troubleshooting thing on Nintendo's website, it doesn't even TRY to have you troubleshoot- it just goes, yeeeeeeeah, you need to call us, here's the number. XD And when I told the guy on the phone what the issue was, his initial reaction was like, "......oh." He also kept hesitating after the "r" when he was saying it needs to be repaired- like he was actually thinking "replaced." Which was NOT reassuring.  ;~; But we'll see. Hopefully it's not as catastrophic as I'm imagining. (I'm copying the info on my SD card just in case, though.)

★ I've been spending WAY too much time playing a text-based game called Corruption of Champions and having a lot of fun with it, for the most part. It's dark and extremely twisted and very, very NSFW but I kind of love it anyway. I'm pretty sure that makes me a terrible person. XD (Krim, I think you would like this, by the way. You can either play it in your browser or download it, both links are here. And although you DO have to pick male or female as a gender in character creation, you can start out with all variety of parts you want and you can change them at will.)

verloren1983: (Default)
- Haven't touched NPT in a week, though I've been poking at other things that don't actually have due dates. Oops. ^_^;;;

- Ben and Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup ice cream mixed with chocolate almond milk makes the best freaking milkshakes ever. Just sayin'. (It's probably roughly the same with regular chocolate milk, but the almond is what I had on hand, so.)

- The USB game controller I bought specifically for The Walking Dead? Also works with my PSP emulator. *screech* Which makes Persona 3 about 1000 times easier to navigate, let me tell you. I would say that this is clearly the mark of the end of any productivity I might've had this summer except for one thing: my emulator crashes pretty much anytime I've actually managed to do anything useful, before I can save. >_<

- Finished Natsume- four seasons and two OVA's. I'll be honest with you, I was starting to get bored with it toward the end because it's the same thing every episode. Overall fairly enjoyable, and certainly not the worst thing I've ever seen, but meh. (I did come away from it shipping Natsume/Natori and Natsume/Tanuma. Mostly Natsume/Natori. Fuck, they weren't subtle about that, were they?)

- Also finished Akuma no Riddle. I'm... not sure what to think? I'm sitting here trying to decide what I should rate it on MAL, and I don't know. The whole thing was kind of meh, and then the last episode was a huge WTF. I think I wanted to like it a lot more than I did. Ehhhh I think 5/10 is fair.

- Debating watching Free! again before the second season starts... probably a bad idea though, I already have enough new stuff I'm trying to get through to justify re-watching something. Not like it has a complicated plot or anything. XD

- "Summer hours" start for the library as of July 1st, which cuts the time I can spend there as a safe place to avoid dealing with people I don't want to deal with. Ungh. I suppose that means more time at home reading manga and playing games and watching things that I've downloaded previously? XD

- I'm actually getting a bit of a farmer's tan on my arms from walking to the library all the time in t-shirts. XD Oops? Kind of weird, because I burn quickly, so I don't generally tan. (Well, that and I'm a homebody/don't like heat, so I usually stay inside most of the summer. XD)
verloren1983: (Cookies)
Just in case anyone didn't see this and it's something you're interested in: Reading Rainbow kickstarter! Like a lot of people, I grew up with this show. They do such important work. The stats that 25% of kids grow up illiterate are horrifying and need to change, so donate and/or signal boost if you can. (As a side note, Reading Rainbow is apparently a few months older than  I am. That's... weird.)

God, the ED song for season 2 of Natsume is absolutely gorgeous. *_* Well, the ED in general, but the music in particular.  I actually really like the OP song, too. And snow bunny! <3 It's also highly entertaining that while Natsume is clearly still annoyed by Natori, he's also starting to get a little blushy around him, too. Cute, but guh, Natsume, find someone your own age to be blushy around, god.

I have, sadly, moved on to season 3, but on the upside- I've learned that the name of the couple who have taken Natsume in is Fujiwara, which basically had me cracking up. Go figure. (I don't think they said that before- I would've remembered something like that.)

I am now officially signed up for two exchanges and am attempting to work on stuff for the next round of BG (not to be posted anytime in the immediate future, nobody panic XD And even then, it's a totally different thing- you'll see what I mean). Oh, and even though the Shipswap thing was supposed to be a one-shot, I have a sequel/chapter 2 bunny that's insistently nomming on my brain. Plus one of the prompt/requests that I didn't end up with in the one exchange is also doing bad things in my head. Oops. On the upside- while I don't actually have any ideas for the exchanges yet, I'm working hard on those, and I adore at least one of the prompts that were given to me and have decided at least on a basic level what I'm doing for each. Sort of. NPT is going to be harder, not going to lie. Plot is required. :/ And, also on the upside, I can just sit on that prompt I didn't get and see if the writer assigned to that person actually writes that one. If they do, I'm home free and can just read~ If not, uh, I guess that's another one for the evil bunny list. XD

Just started watching season 2 of Orange Is the New Black- Piper still annoys the living fuck out of me. Yaaaaaaaay. -_-

I didn't end up calling about the audit because I was advised not to, but I responded to the notice online along with a bunch of pdf's (after an edit from Ai to get more to the point and get rid of the irritation that snuck in at the end, heh), so that's done. As I said to Ai, since I responded in a timely manner, hopefully they'll return the favor and not keep me in suspense for ages. Even more hopefully, they'll have good news. *fingers crossed*

★ In more RL stuff, I just went and looked up the academic calendar for the next school year (I'd been meaning to, but what finally kicked me in the ass was that I needed to know when I was going back so I could tell the loan people, so they don't start sending me bills in November. So now that's taken care of, I'm just waiting for a confirmation email from them on that.). It's sort of weird, because I actually get days or at least SOME time off for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur now, which has never actually happened to me (I've never been at a school where they acknowledged religious holidays that weren't Christian). So in the fall at least, there's a decent spread of days off. AND I GET A REAL SPRING BREAK! I'm so stupidly excited about this, I can't even explain it. Both of my years in college, we've gotten two or three days for spring break, so having a full week is a BIG DEAL. It's kind of early, though- mid March, which kind of sucks because here in New York, the weather is still super crappy at that point in the year. But whatever. IT'S A WEEK. <3

★ Aaaaaaand last but not least, because Cecilia Tan is evil, I'm going to drop this link here for Daron's Guitar Chronicles. It's an LGBTQ themed web serial and is fabulous and I encourage you all to read it. Strongly encourage. *eyeballs* Nah, I'm kidding, obviously to each their own and whatnot and you don't have to if you don't want to. :P

verloren1983: (fma: to new adventures!)
Okay, so now for a few general updatey things!

No, I didn't gather up the courage to call about the tax thing yesterday. I'll try again Monday. *sheepish*

Only a chapter or two away from finishing Catching Fire. I'm reserving commentary until after I finish Mockingjay, but for now I'll just say that I still kind of like the movies better, not gonna lie. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME, WHAT THE HELL.

I also have a bunch of other books out, including The Witches of Eastwick (because I love John Updike's short stories) and The Joy Luck Club (since I've read probably about half of it through various classes anyway at this point, might as well just finish the damn thing- also, I do like what I've read so far). So we'll see how those go, too. ALL THE READING. :D

So somewhere around... what, January or February, I realized that there was a lot more to Natsume Yuujinchou than I had previously thought- I'd only ever seen the first season, which was a long time ago, and there are actually FOUR. So I set off then to work on downloading everything. Well, I finally finished that recently and as of last night, rewatched season 1. Season 2 will start tonight. Wee! It should be fun. Also, the cute little boy fox should be in EVERY EPISODE EVER. Actually, maybe that wouldn't be a good idea, I'd probably die of squee. XD

Gaming hasn't really been happening. Oops. ^_^;;;

★ On the upside, I haven't had coffee in two full weeks as of today. Wee! On the downside, I haven't had coffee in two weeks. XD No, really, it's fine. I had a massive migraine the first couple of days, but then it eased off. It's just rough on days like today where it seems like I didn't sleep well, that's all. XD

★ (Edit- I remembered something after the fact, of course) Grades came in, by the way- all A's. Phew. ^_^;;; So that means that I'm transferring with a cumulative 3.93 GPA. Not too shabby.

I feel like there should be something else here, but the library is closing soon, so I need to go. Hopefully will have something interesting to report soon. \o

verloren1983: (Default)
More media/fandom, because apparently the thing to do is to start a bunch of random stuff instead of doing actual work!

★ Did I ever mention on here that I signed up for shipswap? Well, in any event, I signed up for shipswap because I'm clearly INSANE and Liz is a dirty enabler. Naturally, I got matched up on the fandom I felt least comfortable with. Ungh. I have something of an idea, but haven't written much yet, it's still forming in my head. And I think I'll have to rewrite most of what I've written anyway, because the pairing I intended to write is... not the one my brain seems interested in doing all of a sudden. It uses some of the same idea, but since one of the main characters is different, obviously the fic will be different. Fuck.

★ Aaaand then there's blind_go, which I still have no idea what I'm doing for that. I've basically given it up as a lost cause at this point. The thing is, there ARE bunnies in the queue that would probably make the word limit, it's just having the time/energy to deal with them. >_<

★ Finished the anime of Oofuri. Thoughts, though not many because the second season was short:
-Still not shipping Abe/Mihashi. It's better where I maybe wouldn't mind reading fic of it (maybe), but meeeeeeh. Actually, that one word pretty much covers that ship for me. Meh. That may change as I get further along in the story with the manga, but as of right now, I don't see it happening- it's probably a safe bet that if I don't ship it even a little after two seasons, I'm probably not going to ship it. (LMAO, now watch me be wrong, since I've said that. XD)
-Incredibly disappointed that the fanboy only showed up briefly in the first episode of the second season. I WANTED MORE SHIPFUEL, DAMMIT. XD No, really, it's okay, I'll live. XD Honestly, what I've walked away shipping the most is Tajima/Mihashi. I dunno, BFF's are one of the things I tend to ship the hardest, and they hit that button SO MUCH. Even if it's totally casual and they're just fooling around, so it's not an endgame ship for me. I don't ship it to the point of wanting to write fic for it, but I'm not going to rule that out entirely, either. We'll see- but I'm certainly not going to promise anything.
-My first reaction upon finishing the last episode- "that's it?" I was so annoyed that they ended it there. XD Luckily for me there's the manga, which I'm working on downloading.
Aaaaand that's it for gay baseball for the time being. ^_^;;; I'm going to be honest and say it's probably going to be a while before I start the manga- partially because I'm otherwise busy, partially because I'm still downloading it, and partially because I'm on a video kick and not a manga kick- but I'll get to it. Mostly because I want that part where Tajima and Mihashi share porn and stuff, not gonna lie. XD

★ I've now watched the first two episodes of Game of Thrones, because it keeps coming up in conversation lately and so it's annoying to have to keep saying that I haven't seen it. I... think I'm too squeamish for this show. Fucking hell. I keep having to pause it or mute it and look away because I just. Urgh. I love Tyrion, like King whatshisface (see, me being bad with names isn't just an anime thing! XD)- though admittedly that might be because I like the actor- am so far neutral about Snow and um... climber kid (Bran?), and pretty much hate everyone else. I think I might grow to like the blonde chick with the creepy brother, though. We'll see. I'm trying to withhold overall judgment until finishing the first season, and then we'll see where I sit on everything and I'll decide if I want to continue watching it.

★ Started Nobuta wo Produce over again. I only ever got about an episode and a half through it before, so being that I've seen eight, I'm doing way better this time. It's... completely ridiculous, but generally not in a bad way except that literally all of the adults except one are fucking useless morons (and even then, she's nuts). Also the whole thing where Akira falls in love with Nobuta feels incredibly forced- he is SO crushing on Shuji it's not even funny. It's so obvious with how he's constantly touching him, even right from the beginning (and he doesn't do that with anyone else). I'm not really sure why everyone wants Shuji when he's scary skinny like that. O_o Seriously, he's skeletal, it's disturbing. Shuji is also a complete dick. XD Akira is irritating, but gets less so as the episodes go on. I only have two more, so we'll see. I'm honestly of two minds on this- sometimes I really enjoy it, and then sometimes I'm like, "fuck this show." XD

★ Also started Teen Wolf. It's um. *cough* It's as good as expected? <_< The only positive is that Scott is ridiculously adorkable (dumb as a rock, but adorkable)... otherwise, it has me facepalming from the stupidity approximately every five seconds. I'm still giving it a chance, but so far, I'm not holding my breath that I'll watch it for more than a season.

Okay, that's more than plenty for the time being, and I should probably get some reading done for English Lit anyway. (It's an actual STORY. Akira shock! XD)
verloren1983: (Default)
Ooooor, have another media post because I fail. XD

★ First thing's first- by the way, if you did this on Tumblr or don't have a 3DS, feel free to ignore this. XD I have a new 3DS friend code. (Long story short, I'm an idiot and left my 3DS on a bus and someone else took it, along with the Pokemon game that was in it, so I replaced the system, ungh. Still working on replacing the game. Luckily Nintendo has a promo for a free one, but it's a download and those take FOREVER on public wifi.) If you want to add it, feel free! (2423-3967-2356) I’d like yours also, even if I had it before, because I don’t have it anymore. XD I’ll add you as soon as I can (might be a few days, just as a heads up). <3

★ Persona 4 Arena came in the mail from Gamefly and I've poked at story mode a bit. I'm not sure I would buy it, though? I fucking love Kanji, he's great, but being that I'm an unrepentant button masher when it comes to fighting games, this game is actually really unexpectedly hard. I've barely done anything with it, but I should probably send it back before I forget about it. XD

★ I started listening to Welcome to Night Vale a few weeks ago. It's something easy I can do when I don't feel like staring at my 3DS screen first thing in the morning, because I don't always. It's alright. I'm not fangirling over it or anything, but I suppose it's reasonably entertaining. *shrug* I'm not particularly attached to it one way or the other, really. My favorite parts are when Cecil breaks his radio reporter character and actually shows some of his personality, but that's me. I'm currently two episodes behind, but I'll probably keep listening to it because... well, it's reasonably entertaining.

★ Alright, so I finished the first season of Oofuri. Thoughts for Krim:
-I was nervous after Krim told me that most of the series is one game, but actually? It was fine. Don't ask me to explain why that's okay, but I get irritated if other games last more than two or three episodes. I have absolutely no idea. XD I'm just grateful that I wasn't climbing up the walls.
-Tajima and Izumi are so cute with their freckles! <3 I actually for a while kept mixing them up at bat because of this until I realized that Izumi's are on his cheeks and Tajima's are on his nose. Anyway. They are both adorable, though Tajima is still totally my favorite.
-Luckily, Mihashi is annoying me much less now and my fury has calmed down to an exasperated amusement. Part of this is the realization that he wouldn't be nearly so bad if Abe wasn't screaming at him half the time. I would probably be freaking out too. XD (Abe, stop being a socially inept dick, please.)
-Because I said I'd mention it- the second OP is okay. I'm not in love with it, but I don't hate it, either. *shrug*
-Holy shit, totally shipping Tajima and that redheaded kid from Tousei that was desperately fanboying him (Nakazawa, apparently). So fucking adorable. SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THERE'S FIC.
-As a side note on shipping, I would also not be adverse to Kanou/Mihashi. :P
-During one particular scene which I won't give away the details of, I know it was supposed to be an emotional kind of thing, but all I could think about was THERE'S NO CRYING IN BASEBALL. Seriously, I had Tom Hanks in my head the entire time. I don't think that was the intention. Oops. XD
-This may be showing some cultural ignorance on my part, but hey, you don't learn if you don't ask, right? ...does anybody know why the Tousei band kept playing "Yankee Doodle"? Is it a different song over there (like how "God Save the Queen" and "My Country, Tis of Thee" have the same melody but are completely different), or is it just something that's kind of leftover from the US, since baseball originated here? I'm curious and would like to know. :P

★ On Kuroko: Murasakibara, I want to like you because I like your voice actor (Isumi!), but you are SUCH AN ASSHOLE. Gah. >_<

Speaking of, I've been thinking a lot about voices the last several episodes of Kuroko. It's funny how it's gotten to a point where I've seen enough anime that given a character, there's a fairly decent chance that I know at least one other thing that their VA has done. It helps that for Kuroko at least, a lot of the actors have worked together on other things. XD Aomine and Alex are obviously Atobe and Fuji from Prince of Tennis, respectively, and there are several that are in Fairy Tail or Silver Spoon or other things. Generally I'm pretty decent at recognizing voices (though it may take me a bit- I think it was the second episode Alex was in that I realized she was Fuji), but the one surprise, aside from Murasakibara which I already mentioned? Kise. Kise, who is also Hachiken in Silver Spoon, and also Takizawa in Eden of the East. O_O I never in a million years would've guessed. Kise's VA is seriously talented. :D (Although, of course now that I know this, it seems obvious, so maybe I was just being a derp?)

Alright, I have to go deal with club stuff, but I'll hopefully write again, uh, soonish. Maybe a RL update before the end of the semester? It would be nice, right? ^_^;;;;;;;
verloren1983: (fma: to new adventures!)
So much for updating more. Oops. XD I've been doing the usual thing where I have a text file and I just keep adding to it until it's roughly the size of Godzilla and then never post it, so yanno. I -will- finish the December meme, I have two more to go, I just need to finish the recs post first because Liz is evil. In the meantime, I'll post a part of what I've got saved up. This is the fandom/media part, and probably later or tomorrow or something I'll post the RL part. I think that's the best way to go about this. ^_^ I was going to go someplace with wifi today, but I really don't feel like it, so I'm posting this from my phone- I apologize ahead of time if something goes wrong. Seriously, these days it's better to just follow my tumblr (same username), I post to that way more often.

★ I'm positive that you've all seen this by now, but in case you haven't or you've forgotten about it or something, there's a new round of [community profile] blind_go sign-ups going here. They're open for one more week. Don't forget to sign up if you haven't already! I'm really hoping to have the theme sets posted before then. Unfortunately, between everything else that's been going on IRL, the lack of home internet, and photobucket eating pictures I upload, it's been a trial and a half. So we'll see. XD

★ I've been watching stuff!
-Managed to get caught up in Kuroko no Basket (anime). Primary reaction is that it needs more Nigou. :P But then, that's always true. They should just make the whole show about him. XD That being said, I find the show much more tolerable when I'm caught up. I can take once a week doses with a relative minimum of eyerolling, but much more than that gets me really irritated. It's starting to really annoy me again, with the incredibly overpowered/overdramatized players. I keep going, "Really? REALLY? I'm supposed to buy this?" XD
-I watched through season 3 of Sherlock. The verdict? They should've just left it at the end of season 2. Just... unghhhh. So much was stupid or didn't make any fucking logical sense whatsoever. I can't even articulate how much was wrong with it. adjsakljdklsa.
-Let's see... I was told Sakura Trick was cute, so I'd grabbed the first three episodes that were out. That was my first mistake. XD I watched the first couple and dropped it, which I -never- do. It does have it's cute moments, but it's so fanservicey that it's absolutely beyond ridiculous. I lost count of the number of times I rolled my eyes at it in two episodes. I wouldn't mind the fanservice quite so much if it didn't set off my pedo alarm. Seriously, the one girl looks about eight years old, and that squicks me the hell out. Nothing against people that are into that, it's just not my thing.
-I'm not terribly into sci-fi, so Firefly was something I never really bothered watching. Well... I finally gave in because I was sick of people being all horrified about me not seeing it, and it was on Netflix, so why not. It was reasonably amusing. Zoe is by far my favorite. :)
-I'm now six episodes into Oofuri. Reactions so far, because I know if nothing else, Krim will ask: I -hate- the opening song, but that's not a dealbreaker or anything, so whatever, it's just annoying as all hell. JFC, it's like they're begging for slash shipping here, even without counting the number of opportunies for pitcher and catcher jokes. XDDD Mihashi is ridiculously high maintenance. Poor Abe. XD My feelings on Mihashi are mixed- I think he's adorable half the time and completely fucking obnoxious the other half. I desperately want to punch him in the face during the obnoxious half because I'm a terrible person. XD Also, does this first game ever fucking end? I find myself longing for the three episode PoT matches, seriously. Ungh. That being said, despite my bitching, I'm enjoying it overall. I mean, come on, it's gay baseball. What's not to like in that equation? :P
-I've also apparently decided to pick up Merlin again, but so far this has only consisted of figuring out where the hell I stopped. Considering that I knew I never got to season 2, this process was harder than you might think. XD For example, I actually got most of the way through an episode before I realized I'd already seen it before. XD So yeah, turns out I finished season 1. That's probably something I'll do today- start season 2! :D
-On the upside, I'd tried getting netflix to work on my phone and it wouldn't, without a wi-fi connection. Now suddenly it does. Which means that watching stuff isn't going to be nearly as much of a pain as it has been. Quality isn't bad, either. I ordered a cheap stand on Amazon so I can watch it without having to sit there and hold the phone, because that gets really painful after a while. It actually just arrived today and seems like it'll work. Yay!

★ In other news, I dropped my 3DS and now it's on max volume all the time regardless of where the slider is. <_< Bleh. Need to get one of those dust plug things for it for when I don't have my headphones plugged in.

Aaaand I think that's plenty long enough for the time being. :P
verloren1983: (Default)
...I was going to go out today for internet/grocery shopping, but it's like -20F with the wind. Um. No. *hides under the covers*

- You know, I guess I do still owe you guys a legit update. So what have you guys missed? Not a whole lot, just school work and me being boring and flailing about finals and grades and stuff. Ended up with a 4.0 for the semester, which was basically a small miracle because I fucked up and never turned in one of the essays for Multicultural Lit, so I was sweating bullets on that one. Whatever, it all ended up okay and that's what counts.

- Otherwise, I've just been chilling out, doing some cleaning, watching stuff, playing stuff, you know. I finally beat the stupid tree in Suikoden IV a couple of weeks ago, so that's done. (Reinhold is a lifesaver- basically, I trained with him until I could reliably beat him every time, plus a little. I think Hero was at level 70 or something by then?). I'd rented Hakuouki from Gamefly and quickly determined that it's something I would appreciate better in anime form. As a video game? No. Too little choice and it's really difficult to follow what's happening, at least for me. I'm slowly working on playing through The Walking Dead on Steam so I can play the new episode with my choices intact (and I've read that as long as you've connected the game to the internet at some point, it'll save your achievements and load them up for when you're connected again. We'll see if that actually works). Next up is... I dunno, Dragon Age, maybe.

- I've been watching a couple of random things. A few eps of Hakuouki, which I do in fact enjoy more as an anime, though it's still not great. There are way too many characters that I have absolutely no hope of remembering the names of. I'm more actively working on Kuroko no Basket season 2, what I have of it anyway. For some reason, it's not annoying me nearly as much as season 1 did, at least so far.

- Mostly, at least the last few days, I've been reading. I'm terribly behind in Riordan's Olympus books- I only ever got as far as The Lost Hero, because that's what was out at the time and I haven't kept up. And because it's been so long, I figured I should probably do some re-reading, so that's what I've been doing. I read through The Last Olympian yesterday, so I'm taking a break today before digging back in tomorrow. I love to read, but there IS such a thing as too much of a good thing. ^_^;;;

- My mom FINALLY went back to work a few weeks ago. Things don't seem any better financially (I'm still giving her money hand over fist that I don't really have, basically), but I'm really hoping it starts to ease soon now that she's getting a full paycheck again. It has to.

Computer Related, cut for those not interested )

- I downloaded an app that will keep track of my video games on my phone for me (like the book one and the dvd one), so I can hopefully avoid accidentally purchasing something I already have. Not even close to done- I still have my DS/3DS/GBA/GB/PC/etc games to put in, of which I have many- and I'm already up to 80. I could throw up. Seriously. How did that even happen?

Anyway. This is quite long enough, especially since I can't really edit very well in here. Hopefully there aren't any major readability issues. XD Later!

verloren1983: (Sigh)
8. What's in your handbag?
Right this split second? Wallet, random receipts, about 5 tubes of chapstick because I keep losing them, sunglass clippies, a pen and notepad, some bus schedules, body spray (sea island cotton), an index card with directions on it, tic tacs (strawberry), a few small OTC medicine bottles (the essentials- pamprin, excedrin, and pepto XD), and god knows what else. My bag isn't even that big and it's like a freaking black hole. It has no pockets, so it's impossible to find anything in a timely manner. I've actually been looking for another one that's cheap (read: preferably less than $10, DEFINITELY less than $15) with no luck. Meh. Once school starts I won't be carrying it that much anyway, so I'm not that worried about it. XD

In other news:
☁ School bill is paid, so that's one thing off my chest. I can go get my books after financial aid kicks in on the 17th. Couldn't really test how getting across campus in 10 minutes is going to go because they're apparently doing work in a bunch of different places so a lot is cut off. Ungh. Hopefully they'll be done when I go get my books.
☁ I texted the guy about the apartment, but haven't heard anything back, so I'm assuming it's a bust. Which sucks because that not only means I have to keep looking, but I also kind of loved that kitten, so. Bleeeeeeh. I sent an e-mail today- yay, somebody that didn't specifically ask for a phone call- and I'm still looking at recent posts, so we'll see. Have I mentioned that I hate this? I hate this. -_-
☁ Also a full cup randomly fell for no apparent reason and now my bed is all wet. ;~;
☁ I'm working on episode 26 of Naruto at this point. It's... okay, I -almost- ragequit at one point, because seriously nothing was happening and they were on the same fucking stupid mission FOREVER, but it seems a bit better now? I'm told that it's the worst arc in the series, so we'll see what happens. XD

verloren1983: (Cookies)
☁ BG- It's um, going. Sort of. There is a not even half baked idea, and there are words, at least? We'll see. <_<

☁ It's been BRUTALLY hot and humid for the last week or so, but thankfully it's about 15 degrees cooler today and the humidity is supposed to FINALLY break overnight, last I heard. Thank god. Seriously, the other day it was fucking 97 with a heat index of 106. And yes, I know to some people that's not a big deal, but I live in freaking upstate NY. IT'S A BIG DEAL HERE. When it's hotter here than in Miami? Or AUSTIN? There's something wrong. I saw a thing on facebook the other day where somebody was like, "I think NY weather is broken" and that about covers it. It was seriously hellish. Kelly went up to the boyfriend's house last night (she even tilted her fan towards me before she left, heh), so I took the opportunity to strip down to my underwear and slept that way. I woke up feeling nice and cool, it was GLORIOUS.

☁ Speaking of heat, my laptop has... not been dealing with it well. Like it turned itself off several times the other day because it was overheating. I'm not entirely sure whether it's the heat/humidity or whether it's something more serious, like the laptop is dying, but in the meantime I'm attempting to find my cooling mat and taking "keep temperature down" measures- blew out the vents/fan/everything I can get to, energy consumption is set to power saver, the battery has been taken out, have the vents pointed at my fan, and I'm trying to run as few things as reasonably possible. Right this split second it's running around 150, which is pretty normal, but again, that's with all that stuff going on AND it's cooler today, soooooo I dunno. I really don't want to buy a new laptop. :/ (Mostly I don't want Windows 8) It wouldn't be AS big of a deal, considering I have the netbook, but home internet hasn't worked on the netbook ever since the cable company changed our router box. :/ I copied a bunch of stuff to the external HD anyway, in any event.

☁ It's mostly been too hot to clean really, but I did get the giant pile of crap in front of the closet cleared out, so I can actually- gasp- get in it now. Shocking, I know. In theory, that should make it easier, but now that I don't have a clear directional goal (like "get to the closet"), I'm feeling a little lost. But I guess... as long as I keep chipping away at it, it doesn't matter, really.

☁ Anime: Not a whole lot happening there. I knew I'd burn myself out eventually, because that's what I -do-, and it seems like that's what's happened. I'm still watching the new stuff as it comes out (Free is still fun, Brothers Conflict is still terrible, Silver Spoon I haven't really made up my mind about yet), and I managed to watch another ep of Tsuritama (it's still weird), but that's really about it. But this is normal. I'll cycle through some other media for a while before I come back to inhaling anime again. ^_^

☁ I did watch a couple of episodes of Doctor Who, so I'm now a few episodes into series 5 now. After seeing a few episodes with 11... I think I like him. :D Also of interest- as 11, Matt Smith is incredibly dorky looking. And not in a good way. He's apparently had a haircut, and he doesn't even look like the same person. Turns out he's totally adorable in a cute nerdy sort of way! O_O *was not expecting that*

☁ Oh, and I played The Walking Dead special 400 Days thing (I don't know if I mentioned it here, but I purchased the download for my xbox, but I won't do that again for season 2- I just don't have the hard drive space on that machine. I'll have to wait on season 2 until they put a disk out. Sadface.) My overall reaction was that I wish they'd picked one or two characters and stuck with them, instead of introducing five in such a short time span. You didn't really get to know anybody, really- though I like what I saw of Wyatt and Russell. Of course, those were the two that decided to opt out at the end. Argh. >_< So I actually have to go through it again... which is okay, because I did some stupid ass shit with Wyatt anyway. Seriously. There's a point where you have the option to try and drag this half-dead guy back to your car or leave him to get eaten by walkers, and for some ungodly reason I was like, yeah, let's drag him. Kelly was watching me play and was like, ".....what are you DOING?" "I DON'T KNOW, OKAY?" Which I guess... is one of the most interesting things about the game, really, since they give you no time to think about your decisions- you just have to go on your gut instinct. I tend to not always think things through to potential consequences, and my decisions definitely tend to lean more towards mercy and helping whoever I can when possible. I'd give examples, but spoilers. :P Which... yeah, can result in some really stupid choices as far as keeping myself/my group alive and safe. Whoops? XD

And on that note, I may or may not lie down for a bit because I have a migraine that doesn't want to go away (usually only napping cures those), and then it's some grownup stuff like laundry and figuring out what to make for dinner, and cleaning. Hopefully working on/finishing this thing for BG. Maybe. XD

verloren1983: (Heh (Hikaru No Go))
☁ Tonari- I can't decide what exactly is wrong with Haru, but he's clearly disturbed. I keep coming back to Bipolar and Conduct Disorder (the precursor to Antisocial Personality Disorder, but you have to be 18 to be diagnosed with that, probably because they want to make sure it's not just a rebellious phase before they label you with a basically untreatable disorder XD) Anyway, so I finished it. It's... okay? There were things that bugged me about it. I still think they would've been better off leaving it at two episodes and calling it good. I think the biggest thing for me, though, was that the characters felt lacking. I was missing something there, and I was actually way more interested in Natsume and Sasahara (background) than I ever was in Shizuku and Haru. And even then. Final MAL score: 6.

☁ I've started Tsuritama now. I've seen one episode, and my only reaction currently is basically: O_o Also watched the first ep of Silver Spoon that came out. It's interesting, I guess? Main character is kind of an idiot. I mean. Who doesn't know that chickens poop eggs? Seriously? What's he even doing there, and why doesn't he want to go home? I'm curious about these things. So yeah, it has my attention for the time being.

☁ I didn't really do anything productive Friday-Saturday-Sunday. Friday I went out for the day with my sister. It was hot and humid and gross. I mean, it was okay at first, but after a while I thought I was going to have a heat stroke. Like seriously, I looked like a tomato at one point and I wasn't sunburnt. But yeah. Otherwise, it was cool. We went to the museum and looked at their newest exhibit on the Civil War (and more accurately, New York's role in it), which was pretty damn cool. Had Thai food for lunch (omnomnom). Kelly got incense. We walked around A LOT. So I spent Saturday and Sunday recovering, basically, because I way overdid it (and might've actually had heat exhaustion, that would explain a lot. XD) Monday I did, at least, get those three garbage bags out of my room finally, and I did a cleaning session which produced another. Yesterday, I didn't get anything done again, but that was totally Kelly's fault because she was all, LET'S GO TO DENNY'S, SMOTHERED FRIES SMOTHERED FRIES SMOTHERED FRIES. Soooooo we went to Denny's, and walked around Target and the mall for a while. XD Needless to say, I'm done with Outside for a while except for when absolutely necessary.

☁ I might've gotten a little testy on Tumblr the other day after seeing a post that infuriated me, and went into a two part rant that was basically about how an atheist is not obligated to feel grateful for being given religious platitudes after a death/tragedy, and that doesn't make them an emotionless monster. Um. Yeah. <_< I've apparently been feeling ranty lately. I never did post that thing about TM I showed you guys last time, though, so at least there's that? XD

☁ Aaaand finally, before I forget to mention it- blind_go is back for a mini round! :D Here is info and the support thread. Write something if you can! I need to go bunny hunting...

verloren1983: (fma: to new adventures!)
Things Done Today Yesterday:
☁ Fell asleep around 10pm and woke up at about 3:45am. Well, needs tweaking, but it's a start. ^_^
☁ Ate more than 1k calories. I think. Also had a bottle of water.
☁ Did two cleaning sessions. :D On the upside, I reached my goal of getting to my computer chair! On the downside, I didn't find either my blanket or bag. Sigh.
☁ I did, however, find my computer CD binder and was able to give Kelly a bunch of pictures I had, including a large section of her graduation ones that apparently she didn't have anymore. So I did a good deed. ^_^ (Also, hilariously, I need to clean out this binder a bit. Aside from disks for printers I don't even have anymore, there are encyclopedias from 1995. Yes, you read that right. XD)
☁ Also found my print copy of "On Writing," which I'd thought was lost in a move somewhere but was apparently hiding on the dresser in plain sight the entire time. -_- My book catalogue is up to 79 and I haven't even gotten to my main storages of books yet. These are mostly randomly placed ones that live all over my room. XD Okay, some are from a baby bookshelf, but I wasn't lying when I said I have books EVERYWHERE. ;) I've imported what I've scanned to Librarything, too. Didn't realize I'd lose all of my genre tags, and it tends to put things into weird series lists, both of which are kind of obnoxious. Obviously I have to fix that at some point. XD
☁ Filled two garbage bags, which makes a total of three bags in my room. I didn't take them out, but in my defense, I did take out three bags of garbage that weren't my own, so I feel like I should get a pass on this. XD
☁ I decided that my next anime would be Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, for the sole reason of spreading out the sports animes and not watching them all at once (Tsuritama will be next), and I'm about four and a half episodes into that. I'm not really sure how to feel about it yet. Basically they could've just stopped at two episodes? I feel like the rest since have just been extraneous. Also, there was a line in the first ep that threw me off and I still haven't really recovered from it. On the other hand, it's kind of cute despite itself? I don't know.

So I'm going downtown for the day, at least that's the plan right now. Need to make some decisions as far as when I'm leaving. I suppose that means stopping messing with librarything and getting up. XD

verloren1983: (Cookies)
Admittedly, I spent most of the day alternately napping and watching anime. Whoops. XD I did still get stuff done though!

☁ Went grocery shopping, including a big bag of grapes that went into the freezer after prep work. ^_^ Also got more garbage bags for cleaning. :3
☁ Took out the garbage from yesterday.
☁ Did a session of cleaning. Not the two I wanted, but again, I'm  taking what I can get on that front right now. Filled another garbage bag- mostly clothes in this one. Slowly but surely making progress. Further proof that 20 minutes of cleaning is actually a pretty long time and you can get quite a bit cleared out in that time. (or, in my case, put a teeny dent in the disaster area. XD) Speaking of, did I ever tell you guys about Unfuck Your Habitat? Well, here's the tumblr, which was what gave me the 20 minute session idea and is serving as inspiration. ^_^
☁ Finished Taishou. It's cute, and admittedly I did change my mind a bit about Saburou. He's very adorkable. :P Tomoe ended up being my favorite, which was a little bit of a surprise to me because characters like that tend to annoy me (see Rainbow Dash in MLP:FiM), but I didn't find the ego and bragging as jarring here, for some reason. And I found myself rooting for her. :D Very cute overall. Final MAL score- 7.
☁ Also watched the second episodes of Free! and Brothers Conflict. (Both of which, for the record, are Liz's fault.) Free! still has my interest, and it's basically a shipper's paradise, so there's that. Haru's affinity for water as a running gag continues to be funny. XD Brother's Conflict... I have mixed feelings, but it's only going to be 13 episodes anyway, so whatever, I can deal.
☁ Ate more than 1k calories. Probably ate more than I should've, actually, but for one day, I'm not going to worry about it too much.
☁ 1 bottle of water. ^_^
☁ Obviously I slept. It wasn't without interruption, but whatever. I think the next thing will be trying to get some kind of set schedule going on.

Anyway. On to another day. I'm hoping to carve out a path to my desk chair today, which is asking a lot really, but hopefully it'll happen. The sooner I can at least get in my closet (which isn't that bad), the sooner I can start using that for temporary storage while I'm cleaning/moving things around. Things should start looking A LOT better once I'm not throwing things into whatever spot they'll fit in just for a lack of any other place to put it, you know? I'm also hoping to find my outside blanket (it has a plasticky bottom so that the blanket doesn't get all gross) and cooler bag for Friday. Although they've changed the forecast and it's going to be warmer and there's the possibility of rain. Meh. *fingers crossed*

verloren1983: (Cookies)
Okay, I know I've been posting a lot lately. Apologies. I've decided it might be a good idea to post more, at least for now, even if I'm just babbling about what I'm watching or making a list of what I managed to do for the day or whatever. XD Speaking of:

Things Done Today:

Finalized fall schedule. It's... well, unfortunately there's not much that can be done about it, so much is unmoveable. Things are MUCH more smooshed together than I would like them to be, especially since one of my classes is a considerable distance from everything else (Weight Management, go figure. XD). I'm going to have to BOOK IT to get to certain classes on time. I did end up picking Statistics over Bio. Bio is just... so much more work. x_x And no 2 hour labs. What also pissed me off- when my advisor had put me down for Creative Writing, he was like, try to make sure you get X teacher if you can, because he's a published author and yadda yadda yadda. So I did, back in April when I made my tentative schedule. When I checked it today? THEY'VE CHANGED THE PROFESSOR. And the only CW class he's teaching now is at 6pm which is totally undoable for me. Graaah. On the upside, regardless of what day it is, I'm done by 4, which is nice. :D
Made a chart of said schedule (might sound silly, but I'm a visual person and it helps). Class names are underneath the photo as always.
Weighed in (not particularly happy, but eh, it helps keep me accountable for what I'm doing)
Ate over 1k calories (hey, it's an improvement)
☁ Drank a bottle of water (again, improvement)
Got up through episode 6 of Taishou. It's cute and indeed very gay- and as a matter of fact, the seiyuu who does Tomoe also does the voice for Amane in Strawberry Panic, which helps with the gay. XD It's a little disturbing to me how much older the boys look, though. I mean. I know they're older. But the main girl looks about 8 (even though she's supposed to be almost 14) and her supposed male love interest looks about 25. Eeew. It's a little pedo-y to me since the apparent age difference is so exaggerated. Unfortunately I discovered that for some reason, my episode 7 doesn't have subs, so I'm working on getting a version that works and then we'll continue on.
Painted my nails a nice bright purple and added shimmer. :) (speaking of, I can't believe I don't have a polish tag. WTH. XDDD)
Cleaned some~ (Okay, fine, "some" is a 20 minute set, but it's better than nothing and I'm taking it XD I filled a garbage bag, at any rate. I'm hoping I can manage at least two sets tomorrow.)
☁ SLEPT. For like a 5 hour chunk all at once without waking up once. O_O (Even though I could totally go back to sleep, not gonna lie) YAY. :D :D :D :D :D :D

It's supposed to be really nice on Friday (No rain! Not 90+ degrees! It's like a miracle!), so I'm thinking of doing... I dunno, something. Maybe I'll go downtown to the park. I haven't really figured it out yet, but the point is to GO OUTSIDE and ENJOY IT, at any rate. :P May or may not get Kelly to go with me, but I'd actually almost prefer she not, because then I don't have to worry about entertaining her for however many hours. And if it's just me, I can sit down under a tree and write for a while or something. Asking just seemed like the polite thing to do. So we'll see. XD On that note, I think I'm going to test this episode and maybe try and sleep some more. Later~

*EDIT* Or, yanno, there are subs but they seem to be in German. UGH. Be careful what you wish for, I guess? XD
Nevermind, got one that has working English subs finally. ^_^;;;

verloren1983: (Smile)
I'm still sleep deprived, but I've actually gotten more than a couple of hours sleep and am feeling noticeably more sane, which is good. My sleep deprivation was pretty severe and I think that had a lot to do with my meltdown Saturday night going into Sunday morning. Still not where I should be in either sleep or mood, BUT I'm getting sleep when I can and I've just been trying to not give myself a hard time about things at the moment. Oh, and, yanno, I'm trying really hard to at least pretend to be somewhat normal emotionally. It feels a bit like I'm forcing positivity, but I'll take it over the absolute mess that I was Sunday. Anyway. MOVING ON.

Finished both Planetes and Kuroko no Basket. Planetes is fucking fabulous and everyone should watch it, though it's a little multiple personality? The first half is mostly episodic and silly, the second half has an actual overarching serious plot and is basically the complete opposite of the first. When I started this- hell, even 10 episodes into it- I didn't think I would end up liking it as much as I did. Final MAL score- 9. Kuroko... okay, so I haven't COMPLETELY changed my mind about it, however, it did start to grow on me just a little. Most of that had to do with Nigou. Apparently if you add a cute animal to a mediocre show, it improves my overall view of it, even when said animal isn't even in all the episodes after it's introduced. Yeah. Also I came out of it shipping Hyuuga/Riko, which has very little fic- like there are 18 tagged with it on AO3, and for most of those, they are either a side pairing or part of a threesome. Sob. Will I watch season 2? Eh, yeah, probably, but I'm also a masochist. Final MAL score- 6.

Also, remember how I said I was alternating episodes on those? I don't think I'll do that again. It had its benefits, sure. It pushed me through Kuroko when I didn't feel like watching it, because I had to get through it to see another episode of Planetes. But it just seemed to take so freaking LONG to get through these, and having to switch gears from one to the other all the time was just. Eh. Apparently my usual way of marathoning stuff I like until burn myself out works better for me. :P

So now I've just started watching Taishou Yakyu Musume, for two reasons- one, it's only 12 episodes, and two, I've been told it's cute and fluffy. Cute and fluffy is good. *nodnod* Seems cute. I also watched the first ep of Free!. I wasn't going to because I generally don't watch things in progress, it pisses me off, but eh. Seems interesting so far. They've got my attention for the moment anyway. I don't have anything else to say on those, since I've only seen one episode of each.

That being said, if anybody has any recs for anything that's cute/fluffy and relatively short (preferably 26 episodes or less, but I will make exceptions for things like Chi's Sweet Home that only have about 3 minute episodes XD), I will take them. I've seen Chi, obviously, and Bottle Fairy and A Little Snow Fairy Sugar and you know what, it's probably easier if I just give you my MAL. XD It doesn't have to be anything that's already on my list, either.

Oh. And I've lost just over 7 pounds. Certainly not going to complain about that. :3 (Edit: I should probably add that this has been over the last two weeks, not over the last few days. And I do tend to lose more quickly in the beginning and then slow down later, so this isn't an alarming amount to me.)

verloren1983: (*Blush*)
Yes, I know, it's been ages. I think most of you have seen me around, so you know I'm still alive, at least. I initially had an excuse with finals, but uh, that was a while ago, so... basically since then it's just been good old fashioned laziness. Yep. ^_^;;;  So let's get this over with, shall we? XD

Long as per usual, but these are for me anyway, so whatever XD )

So we'll see how much of that actually happens by the end of the summer. ^_~ Knowing me... ah, let's get real, I'll be lucky if I can cross anything off my list. But again, we'll see! Now, I'm going to make myself finish this episode of Kuroko (ugh *whine*) and get in the shower and maybe like... do stuff, I dunno. Maybe. My head hurts like fuck, so I might just sleep or something, who knows. XD

verloren1983: (Smile)
Real entry coming eventually, but in the meantime, I have seven topics from [personal profile] troisroyaumes  to talk about, so here we go!

Seven Topics Meme! )

Comment if you want topics and I'll try to come up with things that aren't totally stupid. :D

verloren1983: (Aww Crap)
☁ Alright, guys, last call for holiday cards. Not sure they're going to arrive on time as it is. If you want one, the post is... two or three back I think, I'm too lazy to find it right now. XD

☁ Left work early last night- around 7:30 as opposed to the usual 10. The cramp gods were apparently displeased with me or something. I was in A LOT of pain. x_x Still uncomfortable actually, but not anywhere NEAR as bad. The boss may or may not be pissed, but I pretty much never leave early, so he can bite me.

Okay, so if anybody has a hotmail account- I got a phishing scam the other day. It's pretty obvious, I could tell ON MY PHONE that it was a scam and that's bare bones, but I figured I'd pass it on, since it's apparently making the rounds. Always good to be aware of these things. ^_^

Finished No. 6 finally. It wasn't ZOMGTERRIBLE- I've definitely seen worse- but it was too rushed and pretty much fell apart at the end. It felt like it was trying to do too much in too little time, and so it didn't properly explain anything. Including some O_o inducing Shion OOC in episode 10. A serious WTF. I don't know, it was more disappointing than rageface for me. It could have been a really good series had they not squished it into 11 episodes and actually done something with all of those balls they were juggling. They let far too many drop.

☁ Rented Larry Crowne from redbox. Reaction: Meh. I mean, Tom Hanks is a fantastic actor, but this was all over the place. It was like the movie couldn't decide what it wanted to do and so it did a little bit of everything... and not well. It's not a BAD movie, just a mediocre one. Worth the $1.20 rent, in any case. Probably would've been pissed had I gone to the theater.

☁ I've been posting  few things a day ish on AO3, because I've been trying spread it out so I'm not obnoxious. Well... I took a look at the main Hikago page. Guess who's responsible for most of what's on there? -_-;;; Whoops. Guess I'm still being annoying despite my best intentions, at least in Hikago fandom. Though I guess at least I'm not flooding the recent submissions page.

I got Catherine in the mail from Gamefly yesterday. It's an exercise in extreme frustration. I HATE THIS GAME WITH THE FIRE OF A THOUSAND SUNS. I would rather go back to Persona 4, and that's freaking saying something. Seriously, it's a block moving puzzle with some plot mixed in between. Note that I'm not terribly good at that sort of thing. It doesn't help that right from the getgo, they're pretty condescending- going "Great, you survived!" and "Don't die!" Seriously, game? I know I'm not supposed to die, though that doesn't keep me from doing it. THANKS FOR THE TIP. *rage* This probably pisses me off way more than it should, but eh. I put up with this for about three hours before finally giving up, and that's MORE than enough. Kind of interesting, though: I -knew- I knew a couple of the voice actors, so I looked it up- Vincent, the main character, is also Yuri in Tales of Vesperia and Snowe in FF XIII. The "mysterious voice" in the confessional is a busy one- Yosuke in Persona 4, Kyle in Suikoden V, Timothy in Time Hollow, and Luke/Asch in Tales of the Abyss. Phew! Might look for a playthrough on Youtube or something. The plot seems somewhat interesting, I just wish the block pushing thing wasn't the center of the game. PASS.
verloren1983: (fma: to new adventures!)
☁ Lane Bryant had a sale plus a decent coupon, so... bras. Much needed bras. And COLORS. YAY. Green and purple, even. :D And pretty much 50% off before tax and shipping. Seriously, I can deal with $20 bras. :D :D :D :D

☁ Started watching No. 6 thanks to a bad rec. Seriously, probably the best way to get me to watch something (particularly if it's a short movie or short series or whatever) is to tell me how terrible it is. Then I'll be like, "No, it really can't be that bad, can it?" and so I'll be all eager to find out. Go figure how that works. I'm about halfway through and it's not all bad, though I wish they'd do some more world building, and they skip around a bunch and that's confusing. Mostly I'm reserving judgement. Also the opening song is TERRIBLE. I think it's the voice, it just irritates the living crap out of me. Interestingly, I like the ending song. Pretty. ^_^

☁ Does anybody else use the video player Mpcstar? I generally have zero problems with it, but lately I'm finding that if I leave it paused overnight- which I do often, when I'm just too tired and can't focus on finishing whatever I'm watching anymore- it crashes. Well, I assume it crashes, because when I wake up, there's nothing there. Which has never been a problem before. Just curious if this is just me or if it's a thing with the newest update or something.

...wow. Just. Wow. There are no words for how fucked up and wrong this is. PETA, have you ever even PLAYED a Mario game? The Tanooki suit is exactly that- a freaking COSTUME, not a real animal skin. Not only that but Mario gets it from a TREASURE/ ? BOX, not skinning animals. YOU GUYS are the ones depicting violence and animal cruelty. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Disgusting.

☁ Inheritance came in the mail today. It's... freaking HUGE. 849 pages, obviously not including the non-story stuff. Also apparently there is an overview of the first three before the story actually starts. Which is good because I never ended up doing the re-read I meant to and it's been a few years, so ah. I have no idea what's going on at this point in the story. I haven't started it, but I will probably tomorrow! *excited*

Ver goes off on a rant! )
verloren1983: (Chi)
☁ The brownies? Freaking awesome. I had nothing to worry about. Seriously, Jeremy went "I think I just came" when he bit into one. Waaaaaay too much information, but at least I know they're good. XD I still like the black forest cheesecake ones better, but these are close.

Clearly I need to start trusting my instincts more when it comes to baking. They have yet to steer me wrong on that score.

☁ Oh man, I totally crashed hard last night. I had only been able to sleep for a few hours the night before, so around... eh... 1am or so? I was like, screw this, and went to bed. I woke up at about 5am and was up for an hour, but I didn't wake up again till 1:30pm. Right now... I do feel better, but I also feel like I could still use more sleep. Meh.

☁ It has snowed TWICE in the last few days. It was snowing pretty good last night- kind of weird, considering we apparently only ended up with three inches. Huh.

☁ Used up my BN gift cards (and then some)- will be finishing off Hikago finally, a couple of volumes of FMA, a few books from the mystery series I follow (Stephanie Plum, yay!), a book light (people seem shocked when I say I don't have one. And I think it would be useful. Soooooo...), and pre-ordered the final Eragon book when it comes out. Unfortunately, that means that all but two random volumes of manga won't be shipping until November 8th, but... that's okay. There is NOTHING in that order that I have to have ZOMGRITENAO. Though it would've been =nice= if they'd put the book light in the first shipment, just saying.

☁ Persona 4- Okay, the game was already having me ship Chie/Yukiko- the anime is even worse. Seriously, Chie actually SAYS "I want to be with you!" and there's a moment where you think they're going to kiss, but then they don't. *POUT* Okay, I knew they weren't going to, but. Guh. Next week starts the stuff after where I stopped in the game, so it should be fun! :D

Whoops. Have to go. Later~ \o
verloren1983: (Chi)
☁ My cell phone WAS at work, by the way. Everybody made fun of me Thursday when I came in. XD Whatever, at least I don't have to shell out money for a new phone, not to mention the micro SD card and all of my stuff that was on that. Yeeeeeeah.

☁ So I tried miso soup for the first time, in the form of an instant type "miso soup bowl". It was... slimy. >_< The soup itself was okay I guess, more oniony than I would like, but eh. But the texture of the noodles was a real turn-off and I ended up throwing it away after a couple of bites. Blech.

☁ Should arrive tomorrow or Tuesday: LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4. I've been told that the LEGO games are awesome, and of course I love HP, so I'm looking forward to it. I saw a review of it that said that it was "peanut butter meeting chocolate in game form," which gives me high hopes for it. And hey, it can't be any worse than the original Goblet of Fire game... right?

☁ I saw the first episode of Once Upon a Time- it's interesting, and definitely an intriguing concept. We'll see what happens as it goes along, but for now, they have my attention. ^_^

☁ Persona 4- Holy crap, so much better in anime form. There are three episodes out, so it's a bit early to say though. Some things translate strangely to anime vs. the game, but nothing dealbreaking, just a little odd. Also they haven't done much of anything with the protaganist, so he has all the personality of dry toast. XDDD Fine in a game where they've got the "silent protaganist" thing going on where you kind of add your own personality to the character; not so fine in an anime where gameplay is not a factor in characterization. Still, it's a vast improvement over the frustration of the game. With the way they're pacing it, new stuff (for me) probably at episode five, which isn't too bad.

☁ I'm now apparently playing Kingdom of Loathing, which is all Lish's fault. I'd been linked to it before, but probably got distracted from it or something and never started. We'll see how long this lasts, though, I tend to get bored with that sort of thing fairly quickly. (see: every single Facebook game I've played ever.) On the upside, I can only do so much a day and then I have to stop, which is a good quality in a time sucker. ^_^; I'm on day 3 now, so it should be at least a few weeks before I quit, at any rate. XD
verloren1983: (fma: to new adventures!)
Lish pestered me into starting Gundam Wing, even though I have ZERO interest in Mecha. How the hell did that happen? I'm two episodes in and I can't really say I totally understand what the hell is going on half the time, not even counting that the logic is pretty much non-existent. Also Relena is irritating as fuck and dumb to boot ("You tried to kill me, but I'm going to save you from the guy that was trying to help me!"). Overall... I'm not sold yet, but I've seen worse, so onward we go for the time being.

Also because Lish asked and because it's awesome, from absolutely_steve on MAL:

Heero's Guide to Being A Super Soldier
- Try to stand out as much as humanly possible. James Bond was a spy and it worked for him.
- Threaten to kill little girls in order to make absolutely sure they know you have something to hide.
- Be an asshole to everyone. Making enemies wherever you go ensures that no one will try to figure out what your problem is or have it in for you.
- Drive around in a stolen ambulance. Nothing says inconspicuous like driving a vehicle with a broken window and flashers on top.
verloren1983: (Sigh)
☁ I've had my claddagh ring put away for quite some time now (I had my reasons). Recently, I started thinking that I should start wearing it again, because I really do love the piece and it's a design I've never been able to find a duplicate of. I pulled it out tonight... and it doesn't fit properly anymore. :( I can wear it on my middle finger, but it still makes me nervous that I'm going to lose it. SOB.

☁ Officially six episodes into D.Grayman. I have two thoughts so far:
1. Didn't FMA already do this plot? And from what I can see so far- though it's only been six episodes, so I can't really properly judge- FMA did it better. Just saying.
2. What really keeps bugging me right from the beginning is that Allen's voice is so... soft and gentle. It works for Akira in Hikago, but it doesn't really work for me here. But maybe I just need to get used to it, or something. I don't know. Every time he opens his mouth I'm expecting a different voice (something like... I don't know, Ed's or Ryoma's seiyuu.).

☁ I'm now officially caught up on Loveless. Ended up re-reading most of volume 9, too, because I didn't remember exactly where I was. Is it just me, or is Ritsuka a lot more grown up all of a sudden? I mean, it's been a long time, so my memory may be faulty, but eh. All of a sudden I'm going "Wait, he's still supposed to be 12?", and I don't remember doing that before. I have a sneaking suspicion that they're doing that so when Soubi eventually pounces him, it won't seem so bad. XD

☁ So basically, I'm doing everything BUT working on BG. ^_^;;; The procrastination process is fully underway! I do have a playlist, though, so there's that. And I did a piece of investigating for something that may have potential, but it's definitely a case of "moar research needed!" Ugh. We'll see. If I can't work with it, I'll throw it in the free the bunnies post.
verloren1983: (Aww Crap)
☁ When I purchased FMA, I ended up with the first season in one part and the second season in two. There's just one problem with this- somebody dropped the ball on where exactly seasons ended when they changed from two sets a season to one, because there's three episodes that are missing right in the middle of the two. It's been a sore spot for me since I discovered it. I would just leave it and not give them anymore money, but  the gap drives me CRAZY. Now rightstuf has the season single box sets in the bargain bin- $25. That would give me those three episodes and I would FINALLY have a complete set of the anime. Plus they have Loveless for $15. *_* I grabbed Kashimashi for $20 too, while I was at it- I only needed another $10 for free shipping when shipping would cost me at least $11, so I figured I might as well. Shouldn't really be spending the money at the moment, but... oh well. I was overdue on some anime spending. Oh! And they're putting out Tales of the Abyss! *squee* They've only JUST started doing it, though, so I'll wait on that one. I hate having incomplete sets. Yanno, if you couldn't tell by the whole FMA rant. XD

☁ My 101 in 1001 list ends on the 29th of this month... I've done a little more than a quarter of the list. <_< That's sort of pathetic. So a lot of them are carrying over to the next list, though some are getting dropped altogether. I've got 79 things on the list so far. I have to figure out a bunch of not-obvious stuff to put on this thing...

☁ The wireless on my printer works again after not working for ages. Apparently all I had to do was reinstall it. Yaaaaaaaaaay. <3

☁ It's been some time since I worked on Suikoden II- I needed a break from getting my ass handed to me by Neclord's Abomination monster boss thing, and then life happened- but I picked it up again today. The good news? I BEAT IT. The bad news? Riou and Viktor were the only ones left (barely) alive by the time I pulled it off. :/ I made a new save- I'm half tempted to go back on the other one and try it again, see if I can actually keep everyone alive. But it's probably not worth it. XD

Also, with Suikoden II... anybody know offhand where the hell Jowy is, spoiler-free as possible? Like I said, it's been a while since I've played and I don't remember. I want to say that he was all "I have some stuff to take care of" or something and took off, but I could be wrong considering that I didn't even remember he'd left. :/

☁ I've been tweaking a slow cooker lasagna recipe I found for ages- I've made it three or four times and I've changed it every time. I just made it again today and I can finally say that I'm happy with the result. It's freaking GOOD and not a million calories. The catch? It's not actually lasagna anymore, just lasagna-esque pasta. The lasagna noodles always got mushy and gross in the slow cooker (and no, I wasn't cooking them first), so this time I put in a box of penne instead. ^_^;;; Whatever. YUMMY! <3

☁ Well, that was fun- the toilet got clogged or something and resulted in a ton of water all over the bathroom. Ugh. It's cleaned up now and mostly dry except for a few sections that will be soon. Plus the metal part separating the rug in the hallway from the bathroom wasn't put down properly, so there's water underneath the rug there which is all wet. Not quite sure what to do about that aside from shove a towel under as far as I can, which isn't that far, and leave it alone. But then it'll mold, won't it? ARGH. >_<

On that note, I really have to get collapse and some sleep- I have to wash those towels when I get up. Hooray. -_-

verloren1983: (*facepalm*)
☁ Found a DW theme I liked better than the one I had. Yaaaaaay. It's all blue and stripey and awesome.  ^_^ Speaking of DW, they just handed out some new invitation codes, so if anybody wants one, poke at me. I don't think I ever used all of the ones that they gave me originally, either, to be honest. They're probably still hanging around in my e-mail inbox somewhere.

☁ Finished Shuffle. It ended up being a lot more interesting than I thought it would be at first- better than the run of the mill harem anime, I think. Though it WAS still a harem anime and so there were a lot of unneccessary panty shots and awkward sexual type moments. It did manage to surprise me several times, though, and the girls were actually decently developed, personality wise. ^_^

☁ Stef got me reading Hana Kimi, too. It's interesting- reminds me of Ouran a bit. You definitely have to suspend quite a bit of common sense, but it's cute and fun. I'm on chapter 35 at the moment, so we'll see.

☁ I know I shouldn't be adding more to my currently watching list, but meh. D.Grayman seems to keep coming up a lot recently, and it's something I've been unable to find subbed up until now. But I found it~ I thought Allen's voice sounded familiar, but couldn't quite pin it, so I looked it up. Akira! *hearts* (I suspect that this will just make my brain want to cross D.Grayman with Hikago. *headdesk*)

☁ Ran into a snag with Glyde- there are no listings for GBA, GB, and PSOne games (and who knows what else that I haven't stumbled on yet), so you can't put those on the site. Boo. It's useful for what you CAN put on there, but still. Complete and utter fail.

☁ I found the Myers-Briggs results I'd been looking for when I talked about it before- I =knew= there were a set of other results that I was really impressed with. (For the record, it's here). The analytical thinker in this test makes me an INTP. Which made me laugh because the last one pegged me as an ISTJ. I did say that I get different results all the time. Only the Introverted and the Thinking are constant. ^_^;;; It's just incredibly amusing to me. Frustrating, but amusing. Apparently I'm hard to pin down. Or I secretly have multiple personalities. Yanno, either way. :P

☁ So Old Navy is apparently selling a few Pride shirts. Which is awesome, because they're a major chain and 10% of their profits are going to The Trevor Project. The designs are kind of meh, but whatever. It's the thought that counts, right? But there's a catch. You ready?

They're only carrying them in 26 stores. No, that's not a typo. Twenty-six. That's it. And they're not online, either. I appreciate the gesture, I really do. They're doing something that no other mainstream chain has ever done. That deserves some serious props. But I feel like it's exactly that- a gesture. How many shirts are they really going to sell in those 26 stores? If they're really trying to make a difference, if they're really trying to contribute something positive and get this stuff out into the mainstream where it NEEDS TO BE... this is not the way to do it. A+ for effort and pure balls, Old Navy, but F for execution. You still have time to rethink your strategy before Pride month gets swinging, GO.

(Yes, I know there's been a lot of gay related things lately. With Pride month coming up it's bound to be on my mind. Also the whole marriage thing is getting a lot of press locally, it's something that NY is really trying to pass soon. So, again, on my mind. Apologies if it's annoying anyone.)

verloren1983: (fma: to new adventures!)
☁ Is it just me or is LJ being really super slow today?

☁ I was remixed for Remix Madness. TWICE. They are also both better than the original fics, which is both thrilling and terrifying at the same time. So. We have Natural (The 'People Put Their Mouths There?!' Remix) and Dignity, or Lack Thereof (The Everybody Loses Remix). Both are awesome. I sadly didn't write anything for it because I've been trying to BG and failing as it is, so. Heh. ^_^;;;

☁ A word of advice: don't be an asshole to the person developing your pictures. There was this guy yesterday that insisted on using the hour machine even though he wanted his prints ZOMGRITENAO, as opposed to the instant machine that I was trying to steer him to- and then had a cow because I kept emphasizing HOUR MACHINE. "But you can do them in ten minutes!" Um, it depends on how many pictures you've got, size, and the orders that are in front of you (because obviously if I have 500 pictures that are printing for someone else, you're gonna be waiting a while. Doesn't matter if you 'only have one.' Nothing I can do about that.) And, yes, how much of a dick you are to me. If you're a gigantic asshole? You better believe I'm going to make you wait the whole hour even if you have one 4 inch print (takes about five minutes if there's nothing else in queue). DO NOT FUCK WITH ME.

He kept arguing with me about how long HE thought it should take. So guess who got to wait the whole god damned hour for his 20-something pictures? >D

(I'd like to point out here that it is well within my right to tell him the extra time. Part of my job is time management and making sure that things are done when I tell the customer that they'll be done. Expecting him to wait an hour for prints when he used the machine that is clearly labeled as a "one hour" machine is certainly not unreasonable- and in fact if I had reason, like the previous 500 print example, I could've pushed it back further. If he hadn't been an asshole, I probably would've told him 20 minutes. Getting pics printed and packaged takes extra time when it's just me, myself, and I manning the entire front store. ^_^;;; But then, since he WAS a dick, he probably would've had a cow about the 20 minutes, too.)

☁ Got invited to a walking/running 5k in June that's part of the local Pride thing. I haven't decided whether I'm going to go or not. On one hand, it would be cool, especially since I didn't end up doing the April 5k. On the other hand, I'd have to get up at 6:30am at the absolute latest to take the bus, and that STILL wouldn't get me to registration on time (it's the earliest bus, btw). I don't think I have to be there exactly at 8 though. Or I'd have to call a cab and spend god knows how much for a ride downtown. I don't know. I have a couple of weeks to decide, registration is due at the end of the month.

The parade and PrideFest are the following day... I've always wanted to go and have never been able to because I always find out about the dates too late to ask for it off... I don't know how comfortable I am going to all of that by myself though. It's not like I can beg Erin to go with me. :/ But I dunno, I still want to. It's kind of pathetic that I've never been. And at least that way I don't have to worry about losing anybody and I can take my time doing whatever I feel like. I think my biggest concern is getting lost- I have a TERRIBLE sense of direction. I could probably get lost in a paper bag. But... I could probably just print off a map and the bus schedules I would need. Worst case scenario, I have my cell phone and I call a cab to go home. Right? Could be fun. I'm actually kind of reminded of a LOLcat pic here. ^_^;;;

☁ Watching Shuffle, which a coworker keeps suggesting to me. I'm four episodes into it. It's... pretty much a typical harem type anime? The main guy is kind of a dick and I'm really trying to figure out why in hell he's got all these girls in love with him... but again, that's typical of that genre. It has its moments, though. I also watched a few episodes of the new My Little Pony show for reasons I have yet to figure out. It is, frighteningly enough, not completely terrible. O_o So we shall see.

Now. Off to make the lasagna I've been putting off for weeks because I'm lazy, WRITE, clean, at some point check whatever homework I've accumulated while I haven't been paying attention to it (ugh, this online thing is SO not working for me so far), watch some more stuff, and maybe go for a walk later if I'm feeling up to that. Since I really need to start doing that again. Oh, and I need to go to the store because apparently the second bag of broccoli I bought for previously mentioned lasagna has conveniently disappeared. And apparently the tomato sauce as well. *GROWL* Salady things probably wouldn't hurt either. Mmm. Leaves. :3
verloren1983: (Up To No Good)
What is it with all the posting lately? O_o

1. People who post to craigslist and don't e-mail you back suck. Just saying.

2. Have now seen the first six episodes of Fairy Tail and I already love it. <3 The good news is that RL has up through episode 68, so that'll keep me going a while. Plus it turns out that it's SIX eps of Hourou Musuko subbed already (!), so I have those to watch as well. I watched the first, and apparently they're starting in the middle somewhere, and it's kind of depressing. I can't help but think that it would be confusing for someone who hadn't read the manga already. The art/coloring is different, though, kind of... watercolory? I like it. ^_^ Also they use some Debussy for background music! <3 <3 <3 Also downloaded Pandora Hearts, since I've been meaning to watch that too and it's a shorter series.

3. That being said, I didn't do anything on my days off except for watch anime, play the Urbz, bake some more brownies for work tomorrow, and chat with Lish and Pye. Definitely a lazy couple of days. It was nice, but I probably should've done some actual work, heh.

4. Totally forgot to mention that I had another sort of "Do I have a rainbow on my forehead?" moment the other day. XD One of my coworkers, Mike, likes to point out girls he would like to fuck (subtly, mind, he doesn't announce it or anything), though he generally likes women younger and thinner than I do. I usually call him a pig and sometimes a pedo and it's all in good fun. ^_^ So anyway, he'd pointed a woman out. She was WAY too thin for my taste- seriously, she was in the "I want to take her home just to FEED her" category- but I'll admit she had a nice ass. Which, yes, I'll also admit that I might've... automatically looked at as she passed us, and this was after I'd given a thumbs down for too skinny. Once she was out of sight, Mike was like "I TOTALLY SAW THAT!" Um. Whoops? ^_^;;;;;;;;;; This is so why I'm not a ninja.
verloren1983: (Sigh)
1. BG reveals are up. This was... well, it certainly wasn't my best round, but it wasn't my worst, either. Which is kind of sad. *shrug* That's what happens when I wait until the last minute. I meant to comment on everything too, but I just... didn't get around to it, and when I got home from work tonight I really didn't feel like reading. I'll get to it. Maybe over the next couple of days.

2. Still haven't gotten an e-mail back about the apartment. Bah.

3. Finished Kuroshitsuji II. I can honestly say that I definitely liked the first season better, to be honest. I kind of feel like they should've just left it at season 1. Just... eh. It felt like the whole point of season two was fanservice and to milk the series more. But mostly the fanservice. Which I wouldn't mind, except the first season wrapped up so nicely that the second confused things unnecessarily. Plus as I said before, shota is definitely not my thing and they were pretty heavy handed on the Claude/Alois, even if it was one-sided sometimes. Seems I'm not the only one- season two gets a lower score on MAL than the first, and there's a significant difference between their listed ranks. I should probably read the manga at some point.

4. I haven't quite decided what I'm watching next- on one hand, I should probably work on the stuff that I've had on hold forever (Bleach, FMA Brotherhood, Hellsing, Hetalia, Naruto... XD) On the other hand, Lish has been trying to sell Fairy Tail to me. Heh. ^_^;;;

5. On a related note, SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I just found out that Hourou Musuko has started airing! *flail* Must. Find. Subs!!!!!

6. It's almost 3am and I'm roughly 300 calories below where I should be as a MINIMUM- but I'm not only not hungry, but nothing here even sounds remotely appealing. And I really don't have the money to be shopping until Thursday.  I'd make macaroni and cheese, but by the time that would be done, I'd be ready to go to bed. Meh. Maybe I should drink some soda or something. Mmm, empty calories. Probably I should just leave it alone- it'll balance itself out over the next few days, I'm sure, and it's not something I'm in the habit of doing. Really, what I want? I've been craving fish of all things the last few days. And when I say fish, I mean the breaded and fried crap. I don't even like fish all that much- it's okay sometimes, but it's not something I usually seek out. Weird.

Edit: Cut for slight TMI of the female kind. )
verloren1983: (*Blush*)
-Pulled together a few of my favorite Chi eps (the ones I remembered, anyway) and converted them for my phone. My thinking is that if I'm having a really super shitty day at work, I can sit down on my break and watch a little Chi. With the exception of certain episodes, Chi has never failed to put a smile on my face when I needed one... I probably should've done something like this AGES ago.

-I saw a listing for an apartment share on craiglist that looked like it might be promising, depending on certain factors, so I e-mailed the poster with some questions. Hopefully this will work out- keep your fingers crossed, guys! :D

-Holy shit, I'm just under five minutes into Kuroshitsuji II and oh my god, I'm already not sure if I can watch this. ;~; I think that's a RECORD.

Also, this season is a lot more subtexty, isn't it? The first is a bit, but I always had the impression that Ciel was more asexual than anything. Alois, however... man. Shota is so not my thing.

-Baked my first thing that was a flop. Cupcakes again, but this time I tried putting a piece of cookies and cream candy in the middle of the cupcakes... eew. Though I'll admit that cookies and cream isn't generally a flavor I'm particularly fond of to begin with. I'm still going to bring them into work anyway- as I've said before, SOMEBODY will eat the damn things regardless. On the upside, I won't be tempted to eat them. ^_^;;;
verloren1983: (Chi)
- This probably speaks of my ignorance as an American, but I had no idea that the melody of "My Country, Tis of Thee" was stolen from "God Save the Queen." I was watching Kuroshitsuji and they started singing "God Save the Queen," and I was all "O_o Those aren't the right words." XDDD Faaaaail. In my defense, I've never actually heard it before, so, yanno.

I did finish Kuroshitsuji last night, by the way. Just... wow. It was very good, though I'd have to say that my biggest beef with it is the violence. Eeew. There was one scene in particular that wasn't violent, but just completely disgusting (let's just say it involved a character touching something rotting and just.... eugh. *shudder*) Now to watch season 2, which apparently has a higher rating than the first because of the violence. Yaaaaaaaaaay. XD

- According to current calculations, I will reach the savings goal by mid July. Sooner than I thought, honestly, but it still seems very far away. Either way, though, the sooner I get that taken care of, the sooner I can concentrate on other things.

- Also I hate February. It -always- screws me over monetarily because it's a short month. Pfft. Reminder to self, will owe $50 to savings because I can't do it this week plus pay rent plus, yanno, eat until next Thursday. Unless I live off of cake. While I certainly have enough mixes at the moment, that wouldn't do my waistline any favors, that's for sure. ^_^;;;

- Speaking of food, I made this lasagna recipe in the crock pot. It's good, though I'll definitely be making tweaks of my own (less meat and water, lots more veggies :D). Still. Yay, I can make something with the crock pot besides macaroni and cheese! Best part is it's not a million calories! \o/

- Working on that ten songs that make you cry thing, but it's understandably difficult. Especially since I don't cry easily, either, so there's not a lot of them to begin with. I have four so far. XD

Edit: Also, pretty new layout from [livejournal.com profile] fruitstyle . :D Going to take some getting used to, I think, but it'll be worth it.
verloren1983: (Fail)
-Taxes: Done and sent. They didn't seem to take as long this year, which is a good thing. I'm getting back $1065 between state and federal, which is getting transferred to my savings account as soon as it hits checking and is going to almost double what's in savings by the time I get it. Yaaaaaay!

-I'm more behind on the writing journal than I thought I was. I was looking everywhere I could think of and making up a list of stuff that needs to be posted, and I found a bunch on the external hard drive that's never seen the light of day. A lot of unfinished fics and bunnies, but some finished and ready-to-go stuff, too. Weird. On that note, I'm going to be trying to update that... obviously not all at once. Maybe one or two a day or something, to make it as painless on that flist as possible. On the upside, some of it's going to be new to you guys? :D

-Found out today that Hulu has Kuroshitsuji- subbed- yay! It's been forever since I actually watched something new, anime-wise. That being said, I did watch the first episode... this one's kind of creepy, isn't it? :/

-I'm gathering up a list of fic that I owe, too. Which, sadly, apparently doesn't look that much different from the last time I posted an owed list. Guh. I NEED TO WORK ON THIS STUFF! I know I have bits and pieces of some of these somewhere- like I seem to remember having Phoenix's half written. It's just a matter of figuring out where they ARE.

What I still owe, which is entirely depressing considering how old some of these are. D: )

And on that note, it's bed time for me. Night all!
verloren1983: (Akira Bliss)
Pffft, I thought I'd done an entry more recently than that. I guess not. :P

Not a terrible lot going on- I've been doing a lot of thinking lately, which I'm working on a post explaining what's been going on in my head there. Probably why I'd thought I had done a more recent entry. XD

I received my income tax refund... eh... last week? So far I haven't done much with it except splurge on a 2TB external hard drive (it was only $50 more than the 1TB, what? XD). I... can't even fathom that much space, but I'm sure at some point I'll have it full. Just not for a really, really long time. It took me forever to fill my 500GB. XD Also on the list of things to get: mattress, FFXIII probably, possibly a netbook and a case to travel with the thing. Really though, it depends on how much the mattress ends up costing me. ^^;;;

Started reading Hourou Musuko last night.... finished what's out this afternoon. So yeah, 84 chapters in less than 24 hours. ^^;;;; I absolutely inhaled it and I need more. The adorableness is what hooked me, and now I'm just so in love with the characters, especially the two main characters. It's just... guh. Is the next chapter out yet? It's getting an anime too, I'll be interested to see that.

Also started doing some switch outs in my diet- water for soda (though I haven't been doing too well on the drinking on my days off, boo), grilled chicken instead of fried, that sort of thing. And using the Wii Fit more. I've lost 8 pounds and I'm not really doing that much... probably going to plateau at some point and I'll have to work out more, but for now, this is okay. ^^ I'm mostly just happy that I've lost the 8 pounds I gained while Erin was here. It seems to be working for me so far, so I'll just keep doing what I'm doing though. At least till it stops working. XD

Oops, gotta go. I'll hopefully have episode 2 of the Hikaru no Go bases up soon too- they've been uploaded to Photobucket, I just need to take the time to actually post them. \o
verloren1983: (*facepalm*)
Not so long between updates! Whee!

-[livejournal.com profile] blind_go  sign ups are a go! Anybody that's seen/read Hikaru no Go, go sign up! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D As usual, I have no idea what I'm going to write... but it's a shortfic round, so I'm sure I can come up with SOMETHING. ^^;;; I need to restart my Hikago watching, too. I got through episode 10 and stopped. I actually haven't really been watching too much anime recently. I need to stop that, I'm SO behind. ;_;

-Speaking of anime... did anybody else know that they actually made a third OVA for Boku no Pico? God. Talk about wanting to stab yourself in between the eyes with something very, very sharp... because, of course, in the interest of completion I had to watch it. I'm clearly a masochist. And somehow it ended up being even WORSE than the first two, and I didn't think that was possible. *shudder* Traumatized. For. Life. Just saying.

-Don't know if I told you guys, but my DS cracked in the middle. It still worked, but because of the crack, the top is working on getting separated from the bottom, and so I really needed to replace it. I mean, I've had the thing... eh, four or five years? Considering how much abuse it's taken, I certainly have no complaints about its lifespan. Anyway, got a shiny new BLUE one. :3 I've wanted one of those forever. The good thing is that now I don 't have to feel like I'm being horrifically indulgent getting a whole new one just for the color. XD This is LEGIT, dammit. Also I can keep the old white one and use it for travel~ That way if something happens to it in transit, it's not a big deal. :D

-I've been spending way too much money on game stuff recently... Kelly's boyfriend was selling his extra Xbox 360 (how do you even end up with two of those things, anyway? *baffled*) $100 without the hard drive... considering that I'd pay $150 in a shop for the same thing used, I figured it was too good to pass up. I gave him $20, so I need to give him the rest soon. $50 at the game store for a hard drive for the thing (20GB, because I'm probably never going to need anything bigger than that.) $70 for games. Guh. They didn't have Final Fantasy XIII, but they did have the two other games on my "MUST HAVE" list: Dragon Age and Fable II. Started Dragon Age before work yesterday, it's definitely interesting.  That's... actually what I'm going to be doing when I'm done with this. :3

-Last money related bit, I promise. I'm just really excited about this. XD I'll preface this by saying that I basically have no credit. It's this huge catch-22 that you need credit to get credit, which is why I've never been able to get a credit card for emergency purposes. However! I was in Lane Bryant the other day and they're always trying to push their store card... I've been rejected for it before, but what the hell, they give you a discount for trying. I was actually approved this time. O_o Not that I shop there a lot, and I have a limit of $100, but that's FINE. It's something to start with so I can actually start building my credit. \o/!!!! I'm so psyched.

-My older sister is driving us crazy. Thank god she's only here for a month. Okay, that's not a very nice thing to say, but seriously. I love her and all, but jeez.

-My dad and his wife apparently have a website that everybody else knew but me. I'm like... thanks guys. They have a sewing/alterations shop, which is totally weird thinking of my dad doing. He was always the techy type, not the sewing type. Eh. *shrug* There were no pictures or anything though, so I don't know what he looks like now. I was kind of curious. All of this... is not important, it's just a huge WTF for me.

-Colored my hair just for something different. It's a reddish brown... haven't decided whether I like it or not. We'll see. ^^

....weren't these entries supposed to get SHORTER? Bah. Okay, shutting up now. I have a book meme I keep meaning to put up, I should do that soon. XD
verloren1983: (Cousins)
☁First and foremost, Merry Christmas to those that celebrate it. :D I will be at work, so you guys have Christmas dinner for me, kay? ^_^

☁Of course, the day after I wrote the last entry? Snow. And then it snowed again. So we're cured of the whole "December and no snow!" thing, unfortunately.

☁Work is hell. I fucking hate my job this time of year. That's all I'm going to say about that or else I'll go on forever. Which... has really been my policy recently, actually. XDDD Although I've gotten $15 in tips in the last week, which is... a lot, considering I never get tips in my job. O_o

☁When I went to go send out those snowflake cookies, LJ had just pulled them- of course- so pretend I sent you one, okay? XD Also, thanks to Cousin for sending me one. <333 Icon just for you!

☁Finished [livejournal.com profile] fifthmus  by some miracle. The day before it was due, even! Though I didn't send it out until the day of, simply because I had to do the "inflict it on someone else to see if it requires burning" thing. I'm still not so sure about this one. XD We shall see how that goes. On the upside, it's the first piece I've written in quite some time. On the downside... well, it's the first piece I've written in quite some time. *shifty eyes*

☁Trying to get my emulator to work so I can play Suikoden II. It worked beautifully in XP, but now.... the sound in the opening is choppy, but I can deal with that except it won't let me DO anything. The  keyboard won't work. My USB controller won't work even with new drivers installed. So I have no way to PLAY the damn thing. And yes, I tried downloading new drivers and stuff, still no go.

Some days, I really, really hate Vista.

☁Got the passport put in last week. Thank god. I had to get it expedited, which I already knew, and the picture sucks but it's as good as it's going to get, so whatever. Point being that I should have that in a couple of weeks. Yay! *cheers*

☁Speaking of which, I just figured out that as long as I don't do anything stupid (hahahaha), I should go up to see Aki at the end of next month with a decent amount of money. This is a good thing, considering I thought I'd be going  with less than half that. And that's even considering the bus ticket and a few purchases I have to make that's coming out of my trip fund *cough*Christmas*cough*.

☁Watching Eden of the East... I'm on episode 7 and it's really interesting so far. I'm very curious to see what happens. :D The art style is... different from what I'm used to watching, but not really in a bad way, just... different. It's only 11 episodes, though, so it's a quickie. Makes me feel a little stupid for not watching it before- Aki recced it to me a while ago, and I put it off. Sure enough, it's right up my alley. Ehehehe. ^_^;;;

☁Was finally able to finish watching Chi's New Home, too. The end was corny as hell, but still adorable, and I'm clearly a sap.

Aaaaaand I've gone on long enough. ^_^;;; Everyone be safe! <3
verloren1983: (What the Fuck)
Huh. Been a while since I bothered with an entry. I’ve been meaning to, just… guh.

1. Saw Harry Potter 6 on Wednesday. It was awesome. A few things bothered me, but that’s standard really no matter how much I like the movie. *shrug* From that standpoint, it’s probably a good thing that it’s been quite some time since I read book 6. Fuzzier memory makes for a less nitpicky Ver, and therefore makes things more enjoyable. :D

2. Co-workers are really getting on my nerves the last few days, one in particular that thinks she’s a special snowflake and gets to do whatever she wants. Nothing I particularly feel like getting into now, but… meh. I -seriously- need a vacation.

3. Speaking of work, had something interesting happen last night. This guy came up for cigarettes- not a big deal, I’ve seen him before, whatever. I should probably note that there’s some distance between my register and where the cigarettes are, so it’s not like I turned around for half a second. Unfortunately, this means that I missed the first part of this. Anyway, so I go get his cigarettes and come back to find that there’s a cop behind the guy putting cuffs on him. O_o From the sound of things, it seems like his girlfriend called the cops on him for some reason. I dunno. None of my business, really, I was just amused by the whole thing. Probably not the best attitude to have, but… *shrug* I usually miss when interesting stuff happens, so it’s sort of funny that I caught this one because the cashier was late coming back from his break. XDDD

4. Watching Zombie-Loan again so that I can watch those last two episodes that were released as OVA’s. I tried when they were first released as fan-subbed, but I didn’t remember enough to know what the hell was going on, so… just trying to get rid of some of my backlog here. ^_^ I really have to start watching more anime again, but I’ve been so tired with all the rain.

5. Feels like I’m getting sick. Again. *sigh* What the hell is it with this year? Speaking of sick, I got a letter from the hospital the other day. I was freaking, because it’s like… I’ve paid them off, right? But no… they actually wanted a DONATION. Greedy bastards. I’ve only given them close to $2K in bills since November or so, what makes them think I’m going to give them MORE money for no reason? Not that I don’t appreciate them, you know, not letting me die and fixing me up and all, but… jeez.

Meep. This is getting long, and I have to get ready for work besides. Whoops. ^_^;;; Maybe next time it won’t be so long between updates?
verloren1983: (Fail)
Holy crap, it's been forever since I've bothered to write a journal entry. Nothing really going on, just work kicking my ass, so I haven't really felt like it. I've still been keeping up with my flist even though I've been sucking at commenting too. :D So, what's been happening?

1. Finished Nabari no Ou, finally. The end was... surprisingly fluffy. Definitely made me go "O_o" It's... okay, not on my list of zomgbestanimeever, but it's pretty good. ^_^;;;

2. Been reading an obscene amount of manga lately. A little Fruits Basket and other random things, but mostly Fullmetal Alchemist. I'm now caught up in that- 60+ chapters in four days? A little much. ^_^;;; Thank god for online manga, because god knows that I can't afford manga right now. As it is, I think I need to start eating a lot more ramen to keep up with the saving up thing. Seriously. ^_^;;;;;;;;; On the upside, I have $411 in my savings account right now. Not much more to go until that $540 I need! :D And right on time for the revised estimated time, too. I said the end of June, and it'll probably be about that. Maybe a little before if I manage to get not-broke. XD

Speaking of which, Fei made me realize just how much I've spent on this little hobby of mine. I was happier not knowing. *twitch* Just FMA makes me want to cry- well over $200 for the full anime and the manga up through volume 11, plus the anime character book. JUST FMA. This doesn't include Hikago or Death Note or fucking hell anything else. Christ. When did this get worse than my video game habit? My video game habit is pretty fucking bad. >_< On the upside, I haven't -really- spent as much as it sounds. I don't actually purchase books very often, so most times when I buy them, I have a gift card to pay for part of it. :D YAY FOR GIFT CARDS. Still. The saying of "Anime: drugs would be cheaper" is particularly apt. *headdesk*

3. Flist, please tell me I'm being ridiculous. I -need- to get my hair cut. It's driving me crazy. I haven't, however, mostly because I haven't had the money. This is understandable. Computer > Hair. But part of it... Aki likes long hair. >_< GAH. I'm crazy for even thinking that, because I see her AT MOST two times a year and I have to deal with it 24/7. Fuuuuuuuuck. I'm a moron. XD

4. I fail, you guys. So hard. ihikago is STILL half done and it's been over a month now, for starters. *headdesk* I just... haven't felt like doing anything. Well. Not quite true. I've been working on cleaning my room a bit. :D But not quite what I mean here. *siiiiiiiigh* I need to stop failing so hard.

5. I hardly ever remember my dreams. However, the two that I've remembered in the last few months have both been frighteningly realistic. O_o The first one wasn't possible, and I severely doubt this one will happen, but... yeesh. Talk about making a girl nervous. This dream was basically that corporate closed my store, and so I lost my job. To the point where when I woke up, it took a few minutes for me to realize "wait, that was a dream. *HUGE sigh of relief*" My subconscious apparently likes to scare the CRAP out of me. But then again, I knew that already. I know through other stuff it was commenting on how I want out of retail, but without another job lined up already, the prospect of getting laid off is... panic attack inducing. ^_^;;;

6. Might be getting a Wii. Apparently a co-worker of my mom's bought one for her kids and they don't want it (wtf), so she's selling it. The console and a few games (mom sadly did not ask which ones, boo)- $150. For a practically new Wii. *squee* Mom, Kelly, and I are going to go three-way on that, from my understanding. So $50 isn't too bad. :P

........yeah. Ramen. Totally ramen. *sigh*
verloren1983: (Biology)
1. A bit over halfway through and Nabari no Ou finally, FINALLY really has my attention.Took them long enough. I damn near dropped it more than once. But the thing that kept me watching, and has now intrigued me even more so that I will keep watching? Aizawa. And woooooooow, you don't even need the slash goggles to see the Yoite/Miharu. Holy crap.

2. I hate being female, and that's really all I have to say about that. I've been in pain all day even with medication and a heating pad, and am therefore not exactly in the best of moods. -_-

3. Haven't been writing too much on LJ recently, even though I probably should. I just... haven't felt like I've had much to say, and I'm not really sure why. I've been in a bit of a funk lately and I don't know what's causing it, but it needs to stop. Like, now.

...actually, that's a lie. I'm pretty sure I know what it is. A combination of hormones (since I was late, again, though at least this time it was only a couple of weeks. Still. It's definitely enough to mess with things) and another factor I don't really feel like discussing at the moment. It's probably just me being weird and hopefully it'll pass soon.

4. For something good? A supervisor I can't stand is most likely being transferred to another store. \o\ \o/ /o/ THANK FUCKING GOD.

I hate to end this on this note, but it's 6am and I really need to go to bed. I've been staying up waaaaaay too late the last few days. *sigh*
verloren1983: (Bad Girl)
Haven't had that much to say, honestly, so I haven't written. "When the tv screen goes blank, it's usually a good idea to turn off the sound." Or something like that, anyway. ^_^;;;

1. Co-workers are driving me NUTS. Don't really feel like getting into that too much, but let's just say that I very badly need a vacation. Well. That and the people I work with need to stop being so freaking crazy. Preferably both.

2. Deadlines: *flails* GAH. ihikago is already overdue. I'm totally screwed on blind_go. >_< DAMMIT.

3. Money in the computer fund, and more goes in tomorrow.......................... *checks account* Er, shit. Or not. I fucked up my math somehow. I guess if I shift some things around, it could still work. Or I will just owe myself the money. Meh. Better to owe it to myself than my mother, and I'll definitely replace it. I think I need to be paying closer attention to what I'm taking out of there again. <_<.

4. On the upside, I made two purchases today that I was going to have to do anyway before Aki came down: a dress to go out in, and a bathing suit. The bathing suit, ironically, cost more than the dress did. Go figure. And the suit is only somewhat mortifying to be in, which is a good thing. So at least that's done and I won't have to deal with it later? And the best part is, they fit now, but even if by some miracle I manage to lose a little weight between now and then, they'll STILL FIT. Woot. Still need shoes though. And a new mattress. Oh, right, and I have an eye appointment at the beginning of June... x_x

5. Finished Gakuen Alice. It's.... weird. Very weird. Now to hopefully work on some more of the things on my currently watching list...

....................don't mind me, I'm overtired and bored because I'm just waiting for my laundry. Guess I should take my own advice and shut up now. XD
verloren1983: (Aww Crap)
1. Computer's been restarting A LOT lately. This combined with firefox crashing quite often does not make for a happy Ver. It also does not make for easy tagging. Meh.

2. Speaking of tagging (well, RP, really...)- don't know if anybody else has seen it, but there's a secret about Matt in rpsecrets. :D I found it amusing. <3

3. I have sent out the last check for the whole hospital thing. So once that gets taken out of my account (*wince*)... I NO LONGER OWE THEM ANY MONEY. \o/ Which means I can start saving for a NEW COMPUTER. SCORE. That being said... most of you know this, but I'm really, really bad at saving money. Well. Small amounts are fine, but anything more than a couple of hundred bucks is more or less impossible for me. I have -zero- impulse control when it comes to certain things. BUT! I may have come up with a solution for this. Every payday, I call and transfer money from my checking to my savings. Preferably before work so I don't spend it in the day. It's automated, so I don't have to freak about talking to someone... and if it's not somewhere I can see it, then I can't spend it. If I'm shopping and try to spend more than what's in my checking account, my card will get declined. Which... yes, would be embarrassing, but it would keep me from spending that shit. The biggest flaw I see in The Plan is that it requires me to actually remember to transfer the money every Thursday. Urgh.

But if this works, I should be able to get a laptop by mid June. \o/ And then more saving for when Aki's planning on coming down here at the end of the summer. :3

4. I'm really, really hating April 20th right now. Two of the shifts at work asked for it off, naturally, because they're potheads- leaving me to work with the store manager and this one idiot cashier all night. -_- I -hate- working with the store manager. It always feels like he's watching everything I do and it's just CREEPY. So thanks, guys. I appreciate that. (For anybody that doesn't know, 4/20 is a pot thing. Like the unofficial holiday for it or whatever.)

5. Writing... has not been happening. FAIL.

6. Naruto: It took 4 episodes to catch my interest, but now I may actually watch it for a while. But I still can't stand whiny Sasuke-fangirl Sakura. <_< Oh, and the OP still sucks. XD

7. Harry Potter: Bunch of news I found out the other day, if anyone hasn't heard:
-Movie 6 got a PG rating. What. The. FUCK. I'm now wondering what the hell they DID to it then to bring it down to PG. O_o
-They -are- putting the epilogue in movie 7. Dammit. I was really hoping they'd skip that. -_-
-Release of movie 6 has been pushed back two days- July 15 instead of July 17. Which makes it a Wednesday and therefore I have it off. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
-Depsite my reservations, the trailer for movie 6 looks good, so I'm still hoping. ^_^;;; I think... this is going to be even worse than the book in some aspects. Now... I hated canon Draco. But in Half Blood Prince, my heart broke for him. Twice. Once in the scene with Moaning Myrtle in the bathroom, and then on the tower (trying to be as less spoilerish as possible, sorry. ^_^;;;). Now... I don't know if they're actually including Myrtle in the one scene, but they did show him in the bathroom in front of the mirror, and then Draco and Harry fighting. And of course they have to include the tower bit. ^_^;;; But from what I can tell in the trailer, they included both scenes, and just from the trailer... guh. In the book, both scenes made me want to hug Draco. The movie will probably be worse. -_-
verloren1983: (Tiger)
1. ...I just had to show my sister how to delete one's temporary files. Which means she hasn't been doing it all along. O_o Well damn. That would certainly contribute to the issues my computer has.

Also. Need to remember to back up Ochibi soon. Alphonse hasn't come out of his box since I got him and copied the entire contents of Ochibi onto him (which was the beginning of August, apparently.) O_o I will... most likely have to do a complete copy again. Which will take forever. Over 335GB worth of stuff, whut? <_<

2. I've broken the 1k mark for the bg fic. It's mostly pointless rambling, mind, but whatever. 1k is 1k, right? ^_^;;;

3. Cleaning off my desk is always something of an experience. The good news? I just found $25. The bad news? It's in Canadian. *pouts* I know it's there for a reason, but it's hard to remember that when I need the money, god damn it. (And actually, I should have another 20 around here somewhere...)

4. Just watched Eternal Summer. I'm... a little mixed on it, to be honest. It was well done, don't get me wrong, but the passing of time was sometimes confusing, and the ending wasn't what I'd hoped for. Well. It was and it wasn't. I can't really explain it without spoiling the movie for people that haven't seen it. ^_^;;;

However, I will say this- the guy that played Jonathan is WAY too freaking adorable. I just wanted to snuggle him throughout the movie. XD

5. Gakuen Alice: 6 episodes in, and it's still... really weird. I started watching it because it sounded like crack... turns out that the cute mopey boy is voiced by Paku Romi (when I told Aki, she was like, "Of course, he's cute and mopey."), which doesn't hurt either. I have to keep remembering that they're elementary school kids, though, because god, the slash. XD Both of the male and female variety. Honestly, could they make the Hotaru/Mikan and Natsume/Luca ANY MORE OBVIOUS? The hell, they're ten year old kids! *flails at self* Okay, so it's not really that bad since it's not like I want smut or anything (eew), but still. Guh.

6. *_* It is supposed to be GORGEOUS the rest of the week. Methinks I will go out tomorrow and get my hair cut. It needs it, badly. If I feel like it and if I get out early enough to bother. ^_^;;; Also need to make an eye appointment soon so I can catch the end of my insurance year. I need the appointment anyway- I haven't gone in over a year, and it doesn't seem like I'm seeing quite as well all of a sudden. Might need a higher prescription on my lenses.

.....okay, I'm going to quit being boring now. ^_^;;; After 5am and I'm rambling mindlessly, it's time for bed!

verloren1983: (*facepalm*)
1. Gah. Either I'm sick again or I've suddenly developed allergies (as I've never had them before). Eeeeew. Not being able to sleep because you can't breathe when you lie down? SO not fun. It does, however, seem a little bit better today. *hopes*

2. It figures. When I have plenty of time to write, I don't... but give me fifteen minutes before work or during my break or something and all of a sudden writing gets done. *headdesk* Fail, Ver, epic fail.

3. Finally was able to watch the last episode of Tales of the Abyss. It... well, it left me with questions. :3 I would probably like the video game better, if I could get my hands on it. Being from a game and only being 26 episodes, I'm sure everything was rushed and things cut out. Also... Video Game Logic is different from Anime Logic, and thus seeing the original form would be better. XD

But at least that's finally done now and I can move on to something else.

4. *sigh* Day before Easter. I -so- don't want to go to work, I can't even tell you. I hate retail. Speaking of which... meep. I should probably start getting ready. >_< Bah. DO NOT WANT.
verloren1983: (blind_go (Sanity))
1. Caught up with Tales of the Abyss, finally. Now I just have to wait for the last episode to be subbed. *sigh* I was hoping to get it done tonight, but alas...

2. Also found the first four episodes of Chi's Sweet Home 2. It's still cute, though I don't like the new opening song. Can we have the old one back? T_T

3. My body hates me. I'm now officially a cycle late, and today was day 3 of cramps out of nowhere. >_< BAH. I usually only get those the first day, so I don't know what that's about. I'm 25... shouldn't my period have stopped being all multiple personality on me by now? At least I know I'm definitely not pregnant...

4. I have a bunny for [livejournal.com profile] blind_go . Well, sort of. It's a baby bunny. Like this:

No idea what direction this is going in, though. It could very well implode on itself. *sigh* Still. It's something! *cheers, works on putting a music playlist together for inspiration~*

5. Speaking of writing, Ai linked this and I think it's totally worth sharing: WRITER'S QUEST!

6. I am...... not resisting the urge to write an RP application for Inui from Prince of Tennis. I'm NOT. <_< Especially when I owe a bunch of tags as it is. >_>

Shoot me now. *headdesk*

7. Work has been fun. So fun I don't even want to talk about it. *groan* One of these days I'll make a giant TL;DR post about it. Maybe. Might just as easily decide it's not worth the effort. -_-

verloren1983: (All About Me)
1. I have no idea how my mother manages to unplug my ethernet cord from the router so god damn much, but I really wish she'd stop. It's been happening  a ridiculous amount lately. And it has to be something she's doing, because it's on HER end (the router is in her room) and it only happens when she's home and awake. GAH.

2. How the hell do I manage to never get anything done on my days off? *sigh* Fail, Ver, fail. I at least got my xbox in my room and set up, but I still need to finish cleaning out that corner so I can actually sit and play it. I got groceries, and laundry got done. That's all I did constructively the last two days. *headdesk*

3. Finished FLCL. To be honest, the only reason I didn't drop it was because it was only six episodes, so I figured I could at least finish it. Didn't like the art, had no idea what was going on through most of it, and overall it was really a waste of time. But now it's done and so I can move on. ^_^

Maybe Nabari now. I keep saying that and not doing it. Though in my defense, the last time I said it, I tried, but then episode 5 kept crashing my computer. I have a new one now that should be okay. XD

That's for later. Right now I've got to eat and get ready for work. Later~
verloren1983: (Huh)
1. FUCK. Just realized that the size of box I was planning to use to send stuff out with (the smallest one, because it's waaaaaay cheaper than the others).... is also waaaaaay too small. *headdesk* Weight wise is fine. Hell, I'm sending candy to one person and pasta to another, a four pound weight limit isn't exactly a problem. But the box itself? Is 8 5/8″ x 5 3/8″ x 1 5/8″. *headdesks more* I don't know how I didn't realize that, I print pictures all day, and two of the sizes are 5x7 and 6x8. YOU'D THINK I'D AT LEAST HAVE AN IDEA OF HOW BIG THAT IS. So yeah. I'm going to have to go at least one size up, because that's freaking tiny. Craaaaaaaaaaaaaaap. Also, I won't be able to send letters in them either like I was going to, because that's apparently Not Allowed. Suck.

2. There's more snow on the ground. *sigh* And I was liking being able to see some grass for the first time since, what, November? At least it wasn't that much. And, unfortunately, it's not unexpected for upstate NY. Anything from October to mid-April or so is totally fair game for snow.

3. I've always loved history, so it was really only a matter of time before I checked out Hetalia. Though to be honest, I avoided it because of all the wank, but Aki describing it to me as "Crack with a side of crack and crack sprinkles" prompted me to download the first three episodes. My first thought, aside from "what the hell?"....... people actually take this seriously enough to wank about it? It's CLEARLY not meant to be taken seriously. .................okay, I can see Italians getting a little miffed. Italy makes me cringe and I'm not even Italian. I don't have any particular issues with any of the others, though. America is dumb as expected. Can't say I have any arguments there.

All in all I don't see what the big deal is. It's amusing enough that I'll keep watching it, but I don't really see why there's all the wank. The author is either completely insane or was taking some REALLY good drugs when they were writing it. That's it, end of story, it's not anything to get zomgsooffended over. Bottom line? Don't like it, don't watch/read it. It's that simple. Then again, my tolerance for wank is...... er............... practically non-existent, so................. ^_^;;;

4. Need to start really watching stuff again, though. I burned myself out on A Little Snow Fairy Sugar and haven't really picked up anything since. Well. I watched two episodes of FLCL. I'll finish it because it's only 6 episodes to begin with, but what the fuck?! Maybe I'll try picking up Nabari again today...

5. I've written a drabble. *dances* And started trying to work on one of the "drabbles" I owe, though that seems to be rough going for some reason. I have it mostly plotted out too. Grrr.

6. Sore today. Meh. Did four and a half pages of price changes in cosmetic, most of which involved being on my knees and crouching. In three hours. When the woman doing them in the morning only managed to get the first 2/3 of a page done in five hours. Some of the people I work with really suck. So yeah, mostly going to relax today, I think. Maybe get some Chinese food. :9
verloren1983: (Fail)
1. It wasn't straight on, but all in all I slept roughly 11 1/2 hours. O_o Clearly, though, I needed it, because I do feel a bit better. It will all go to hell as soon as I go to work, I'm sure. XD I'm still sick, but not quite as much, and my ear doesn't feel so stuffy. Which is good. I'd rather not have to go to the doctor if I can help it, and if part of this is an ear infection like I think it is, most times they resolve themselves without antibiotics anyway. And yes, if my ear still hurts in a week, I'll go to the doctor, unless something dramatic happens between now and then. *grumble*

2. I haven't written in a little while, so a couple of things finished: Junjou Romantica and A Little Snow Fairy Sugar. Junjou.... you know, I kind of have the same reaction as I did to season one. I would like another season, but I won't be heartbroken if they don't, because I think it ends just fine where it is. *sigh* Weird to have it be over though. XD So now I'm taking a little break, and then will probably be picking up Nabari again. Or at least, trying to. This will be attempt number three. Not that it's bad, it just hasn't particularly caught my interest yet, and I keep getting distracted by shinier things. XDDD

I should really go to the grocery store and pick up some food, but I really don't feel like it. And gah, I can't think of anything else because while I do feel a bit better, my brain is still mush. XD Probably better to just shut up at this point, huh?

The scary part is, I could still totally go back to sleep right now....
verloren1983: (Heh (Hikaru No Go))
Public Service Announcement: My internet connection has been really spotty off and on the last few days. Which really BLOWS, because I never know when it's going to drop. Well, that and aim doesn't seem to sign me off till an extended time after it goes. So if anybody tries to message me on AIM when it says I'm on and I don't respond after about ten minutes, please try to poke me again. It's one of two scenarios, one of which is normal, one is not. XD 1- I'm getting food/in the bathroom/on the phone/got distracted by something shiny; 2- My god damn internet is out again, and I will be back when I can.

The rest is put under a cut to save everyone's flists. It's mostly boring. Trust me. )

Some squee, but mostly bitching. Read at your own risk. )

*EDIT* Actually, apparently one good thing came out of Kelly doing some cleaning... she found my other winter glove while going through her stuff, the one I've been looking for since November or so! So I have gloves again! *cheers*
