verloren1983: (Sigh)
- And clearly I didn't have to worry about that one day, because I then proceeded to mess up NaBloPoMo rather spectacularly. Whoops. XD

- Reminder: Holiday card post here (DW) and here (LJ).

- Speaking of holiday... once again, I find myself having a hard time getting into the "Christmas Spirit" this year. I kind of thought that would go away once I was out of retail, but apparently not. I honestly think it's the result of a combination of things: 1) No snow. It doesn't really feel like Christmas without snow. 2) Now that I'm older, the magic is gone. It doesn't matter anymore. Maybe if I had a kid, it would be different, but meh. 3) The holidays used to be a big deal in my family. Everyone would get together at my Grandparents and stuff ourselves silly and talk and stay up way too late. Now... nobody gets together anymore. I don't see anybody for the holidays, so... it's just another day. *shrug* And no, I'm not trying to get anybody to feel sorry for me, because it's honestly not that big of a deal to me. It's just... kind of weird, I guess, and I feel like the only person who doesn't really care one way or another. I don't love it, I don't hate it, I just. Meh.

- I think I need to stop eating at my favorite Chinese food place. ;~; So I was there waiting for somebody to come to the counter so I could pick up my food- the lady that's usually manning the counter wasn't there- and I saw this.

Now, I don't know how well you can tell in my crappy cell phone picture here, but that's a big fridge right there. Inside the fridge there are multiple bins with food that's been covered with plastic wrap that's since peeled back- that's right, uncovered food in the fridge. Health code violation, not to mention gross. These bins also have no discernible labels or dates, also a health code violation, for obvious reasons. Eeeeeeeeeeeeew. Right in front where the customers can see! And it's the best Chinese place in the area, too. *pout*

- Sat down and watched The Artist last night. I... don't really know how I feel about it? The silent thing felt kind of gimmicky to me, and it didn't really have a whole lot of substance. The acting was good, though. So.... eh?

- Finals- eeeeeeeee. That's really all I have to say there.

- Managed to score an awesome deal on Zoyas. I've been good on the spending front even with Black Friday/Cyber Monday (have ignored Amazon, Threadless, and Lane Bryant), so I don't feel too badly about it- especially since it was 4 polishes for $25 and free shipping, and one of them is a $35 polish. So that's pretty nice. ^_^ (For the curious, it was Trixie, Noel, Holly, and Gilty.)

- So Kelly apparently saw Amy (former co-worker I like) recently, and Amy told her that the photo lab has basically fallen apart since I left. They have the lab closed half the time- which is going to fuck them, because now that it's December, they SHOULD be up to their elbows in Christmas card orders. Guess who did (or re-did) 95% of the Christmas card orders in previous years, to the point where Kerry called me the "Christmas Card Queen." *cackles gleefully* Okay, okay, I feel badly for Scott, since he's apparently there all the time now, but... I did always say that they had no idea how much work I really did there, and that they would appreciate me when I was gone. I bet they appreciate me now! *vindicated*

6. A couple of weeks ago, I managed to fall up the stairs in the library (basically, I wasn't entirely awake and in a hurry, so I apparently didn't lift my foot high enough and tripped). Ugh. I was alright, but it resulted in some spectacular bruising on my arms and legs. Seriously, I had this one on my upper arm- that's a nickel for size comparison (another crappy cell phone pic, apologies, but you can get the idea at least):

Yeeeeeeah. It's more or less healed now, except in a couple of spots, though there's still a shadow where it was. Good thing it wasn't summer, though- people would've been thinking I was getting beaten or something. >_<

- I hate coffee. I have always hated coffee. I've said for a long time that it's an acquired taste I've never bothered to acquire. The thing is, there have been a lot of early mornings, and some days the energy just isn't there, so I decided that I would try it again. First, I picked up one of those Starbucks Frappacino Mocha things out of a vending machine to drink before Art History. I discovered that coffee is still vile. XD I actually probably amused the hell out of the prof, because I would take a drink, make a face like:

then put the bottle down for a while. Rinse, lather, repeat until the bottle was done. Basically- it's something I could force myself to drink if absolutely necessary, but otherwise, I'll pass.

Now, because I'm apparently a masochist, I decided to add another part to the coffee experiment. When I got back home, I stopped at Dunkin Donuts to get a caramel latte with sugar- I like caramel, and the latte thing seemed like it would work better for me. It was... absolutely disgusting. Didn't even taste any caramel OR sugar, it was just straight up coffee. When I got it home, I even tried putting more sugar in it, and that just made it worse. Totally undrinkable. So. End result: the coffee experiment was a gigantic failure. XD

(And I've had this sitting here for about two days, so I should probably post it. XD)

Ahaha--yes, I bet they appreciate you now! XD I feel bad for them just thinking about it, but clearly they did not realize you ran the place and they were way too full of themselves about it. Serve them right.

Ouch, that bruise looks painful. T_T

If you need caffeine, how about tea? Tazo Awake is supposed to be pretty good and caffeine-rich.

XD Schadenfreude.

I don't recommend energy drinks. T_T Ginseng is fine, but energy drinks are full of other things that mess you up, including guarana and almost-toxic levels of caffeine.

I like tea with something like Truvia or some other similar calorie-free sweetener. Or try honey or agave syrup--you need less of it than sugar for equivalent sweetness, and it's still moderately healthy (measure how much you're putting in to keep an eye on it; I have a small digital scale for the kitchen counter. ^_^)

Ginseng

My doctor just recently told me that I am (probably) exacerbating my stomach issues by having energy drinks (ever) because of the GINSENG! I had NO IDEA there was an issue with ginseng. Just FYI

Also, YAY TEA

I know that feel re: being appreciated. My old stores (both of them!) constantly feel the need to tell me that I need to come back to get things under control. I shudder to think of what my cash office looks like at the most recent one... I had a system - one I had trained every head cashier in - and now... none of the old HCs are left. Oh well.

Coffee is vile. Does black tea do nothing for you?

falling up stairs (or down them)

I have been having a hard time with the Christmas spirit this year as well, and for pretty much all the same reasons. Except there is never snow here. I love snow. I started a tradition a few years ago of always going to the snow on Christmas day, although last year I didn't make it, which was sad but whatever :) The family doesn't get together anymore, not since my great grandfather died, and I miss it, but it's just different from when I was a kid. Also, nobody in my family even sends cards anymore! I miss getting Christmas cards. Plus, I work in retail (sort of) so I have to work a bunch of extra hours and deal with asshole people a lot more around this time of year, which just makes me hate it a little bit ;)

I wouldn't eat at that place. You should close your eyes when picking up food to-go from now on >_<

Pretty nail polish EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I love those moments when you realize that you truly are as important as you tell yourself you are (I'm pretty sure everyone tells themselves they are important though, and not that many people have their ex-workplaces fall apart in their absence. But to the few of us that do? *high-five* We are too awesome).

I seriously have fallen up AND down stairs so many times, that I am almost at the point where I need to boycott stairs entirely. I SHALL ONLY VISIT THE BOTTOM LEVEL! That looks painful :(

HEY for coffee (I also hate coffee, but I like sugar, and I find if I have more sugar than coffee in my coffee it is much less disgusting) you should try a WHITE CHOCOLATE MOCHA. It's sweeter and a lot less COFFEE-ey than other things. LATTES ARE GROSS. I like to get a white chocolate mocha with some kind of syrup in it like caramel flavor or peppermint, it makes it EVEN SWEETER and more delicious. It doesn't really taste like coffee at all. But it still wakes you up like it's coffee. My doctor told me I have to stop drinking energy drinks so I am exploring alternatives. teehee.
