...you know, I keep trying to post more, and I'll type something up, but then I don't post it and I wait so long that I have to rewrite half of it because it's no longer valid. Whoops. XD
☁ I've decided to stop paying for LJ and let it revert back to a Basic account. I just... I don't feel like it's worth it anymore, mainly because the biggest reason that I kept it was for the icons. And since I mostly just use icons for commenting in communities these days, with all my main posting being from DW- where I only have 15 icons anyway- yeah. So I cut my icons down to 6 in anticipation of that, because LJ always picks the 6 that you never use. From 111. It was... totally heartbreaking, but it's done.
☁ I'm getting a pretty nice refund for my income taxes this year, assuming they don't try to audit me for it. While I'm obviously going to stick most of it in savings, I do need a new laptop battery (I'm getting at BEST a half hour out of lappy now without it plugged in. Granted, I'm not out and about with it anymore, but it would still be nice to be able to hang out in the living room for a little while without having to worry about dragging my powercord along for the ride, you know? Lappy is nearly four years old, so it's actually pretty impressive that the battery has gone this long- guess I can't complain too much about it. ^_^; It MAY be smarter in the long run to get a new laptop, but... a battery is cheaper, and if I can get another year or two out of lappy just with a new battery, it's worth it to me, you know?
I'm also thinking about splurging on other electronics- specifically a Kindle and a 3DS XL. Thoughts on the Kindle, from people who have them? I'd definitely be getting one of the e-ink screen ones- that's the whole POINT to me, after all (if I wanted to read on an LCD screen, I would, I dunno, just keep reading on the devices I already HAVE), but... I'm basically going back and forth between the original Kindle with just the directional buttons, and the one with the keyboard and 3G. Kelly has the one with the keyboard, so I've played with it a little and know that the keyboard pisses me the hell off, but I probably just need to get used to it? I dunno. :/ Also, quick aside to the gamers on the flist: check out the Gamercat comic. Seriously.
☁ I think I realized what my problem might be with the motivation to write thing (aside from school, I mean). It's so simple, I can't believe I didn't think of it- music. There has been a definite lack of music in my life since school started, and it's negatively impacting my creative writing. It explains so much. O_o Now I just need to go about fixing it and we'll see where we are.
☁ I also realized at least in part why stupidity pisses me off so much: I tend to automatically assume in my head that other people know the same things I do. Logically I know this isn't true, but... it's automatic. I can't help it. So when it inevitably turns out that they DON'T, because people are stupid, I get really frustrated about having to backtrack and explain something. Because I have this thing in the back of my mind that goes, "you should know this already, what's wrong with you?" It pisses me off even more if they STILL don't get it after that, when I'm like, okay, really? This is why I keep saying I could never be a teacher. I would up and smack someone at some point.
☁ One of the new guys in Pride Alliance hugged me the other day. It was weird. O_o (Well, it wasn't just me, but you know what I mean. XD) He randomly opened his arms as we were leaving, and when I made a face at him, he was like, if we're going to be friends, you need to learn how to like hugs. Blah. *not a huggy person IRL* *actually, not a touchy person period, I like my big bubble of personal space, don't touch me XD*
☁ Had three major exams on the same day a couple of weeks ago- Gender and Lit, Abnormal Psych, and Western Civ. What the hell? It's like they plan that shit. Ungh. Oh, and my grade on the Psych test is the entirety of my midterm grade, so I was SUPER freaked out. I'd had about two hours of sleep and A LOT of coffee. XD My Western Civ essay was ABYSMAL. Gender and Lit essay was slightly better, but not much. I had no idea what the hell I was even writing. Needless to say, last week was hellish and made me wonder why the hell I'm doing this to myself in the first place. But we'll see. I know I got a 90 on the Abnormal Psych, which I guess I should be happy about, but I'm just like >_< because there were a few questions where it was like, I KNEW THAT ONE, WHAT THE HELL. Meh. Don't know about the other two yet. Nothing I can do about it now, so.... just have to cross my fingers and hope that my professors take pity on me. XD
☁ At the urging of my English Comp prof, I submitted a short story for the school literary magazine. Eeeeeeeeeeep. He mentioned it three days before the deadline, which was actually the same day as all those tests (THANKS, Mr. K. Really? TIMING >_< ), so I ended up having to do a "what if" spin on something personal because of lack of time, which I probably wouldn't have done otherwise, but eh. I'm... not going to hold my breath, but it's a big step for me, so I'll take it.
☁ Biology is going swimmingly, by the way. I was worried about this class why, again? The first unit test, I got a 95- second highest grade. Not too shabby. ^_~ I just wish the teacher would stop singling me out in lab. I mean, it's not in a bad way, really- it's for grades, which are good- but I want to die of embarrassment every time she does it. Oh, and we just took the second unit test on Thursday. I somehow pulled off a 100. O_o I'm trying to figure out how the hell that one happened. Well, whatever. FUCKING YES. I could basically flunk everything else from here on out and still pass this class. It wouldn't be a grade I'd LIKE, but I would still pass. XD That... is awesome. *release of some pressure* <3
So basically, things are generally going pretty well at the moment. I'll probably be singing another tune in a month when I'm trying to write four different research papers, but eh. XD

This thing is pretty much as good as it gets for reading. ♥ I don't see the need for lots of typing/notes myself, though, so I like the directional pad a lot more than the keyboard, so the basic $69 model is pretty much all I need. You could get the Kindle Touch and get the best of both worlds (no physical keyboard, but easier text entry than directional pad.)
Let me know if you get a 3DS XL! I love mine so far but I've been so busy I haven't had any chance at all to play with it. Sadly, I still have my DS Lite because the 3DS will not use the N4 (I haven't even tried because I've heard it'll brick the 3DS; they really weren't kidding about anti-piracy.) Gotta have the N4 around still, for the "I want to try this before I put money down" kind of game.

Yikes, I didn't know that about the R4. Good thing I hadn't tried it (my R4 is... er, lost at the moment). And yes, I caved and got the 3DS. It's HUUUUUUUGE! Also Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance and Zelda Ocarina of Time to go with it. ^^;;;
